   My dad side of the family is from New Orleans, so the Gumbo & red beans was a no for me. The Catfish, Mac & cheese was good like last time. The yams and the potato salad was ok I like mine with a little more mustard. I went for the lunch special, I will say GREAT pricing & amount of food with this special & a Free Beverage.

   Food was excellent.. best catfish I’ve ever had. I wanted (and ordered) the meatloaf. My girlfriend ordered catfish and gumbo. They brought out all the food but there wasn’t any meatloaf. I had been thinking about that meatloaf and it’s description on their website for two days. They forgot to put the order in! They offered to make me anything else on the menu on the house of course but I had to tell them (and now you) I had been snacking on my girlfriend’s catfish (no pun intended)and it was the most delicious catfish I’ve ever had as I previously stated. I’m going back this Friday to get my meatloaf. Can you tell I love meatloaf?… someone should fix the lights in the parking lot though the older crowds might find that intimidating.

   Terrible. Didn’t have my reservation for 10, so we had to wait. After informing them that only 5 people were there for the reservation we still waited 30 minutes to be seated. The service was terrible. I never received me drink I ordered and an appetizer, but it was still put on the bill. After all that they chartered us 18% gratuity even thought there was only 5 of us. Their excuse was because our reservation was for 10 people, but mind you they didn’t even have my reservation in the first place.

   Everything about this place was impeccable. I wanted to try gumbo for the first time and they did not disappoint! The queens gumbo was awesome, the drinks were great & the staff was delightful! The hostess in the front I forgot her name she’s the most pleasant person I’ve ever came across. My waitress Amayla was superb as well. If u want great food, drinks and service?? Come here!!

   Best soul restaurant in the city hands down !!! The vibes were amazing the food was delicious!! Customer service immaculate !! I’ll be back again and will continue to tell people about this place don’t let the location fool you !!

   Gumbo King did not get our reservation through Open Table. Thank goodness they were not very busy and were able to seat us right away.
