About this restaurant

  • Neighborhood gem
  • Great for brunch
  • Great for outdoor dining
Breakfast, lunch, dinner, noshes and cocktails. Located in the Hotel La Rose, Grossman's offers Mark Stark's inspired take on Jewish cuisine from the East Coast to Eastern Europe and the Middle East. Guests can enjoy the outdoor seating area, order at the deli counter, pick up a grab 'n go meal or baked goods like Bagels, Babka, Black & White Cookies, Rugelach, Challah and Rye Bread from the in-house bakery. Come in, call in, or order online for takeout. Lox, Corned Beef, Pastrami, Full Sour Pickles, Falafel and many other delicacies are made in house based on family recipes. We have a small retail area with Jewish specialty items like Halva, Matzoh Chips and Crackers and hard to find condiments.

Different wait staff came by 3x when we first arrived. Then there was a long wait to take order. Even longer to get check and doggie bag when finished. Definitely a hiccup and not a typical Stark waitstaff experience.

what a delicious dinner. i was worried that this was more of a breakfast or lunch place, but that was not the case. this is a jewish restaurant which i’ve never really been to besides like a jewish deli (hey @katz). they had a very extensive menu, but everything was delicious. sometimes with a huge menu, things fall through the cracks quality wise. that was not the case here. we ordered two apps. the first one we ordered was the Potato Vareniki which was a potato dumpling served with a lemon brown butter and smoked trout roe. i’ve never had smoked trout roe before, and this garnish was delightful. perfect texture addition. the lemon brown butter sauce was delicious, but it was a little less flavorful than i was expecting. it tasted less like a browned butter and more like a melted butter. i wish there was something else in the dumpling besides potato. there wasn’t much texture inside the dumpling. even some onions would have helped. the outside of the dumpling was perfect texture. the sour cream on top was a nice creamy addition, but there was a little too much of it. now don’t get me wrong, i love sour cream, but it was just a bit much for me. probs wouldn’t reorder the potato one, but would try the chicken one. the next app we ordered was the Crispy Baby Artichokes with labneh, sumac. i love an artichoke, so these were great. perfect crispiness. wish there was a little more sauce, but overall great starter. the sauce was creamy and delicious. Emily had had the fish and chips before, and she said it was delicious, so that was one of our mains. I think it’s pretty hard to mess up a fish and chips, and Grossmans did not disappoint. The fish was light and flaky and tasted quite fresh. It was served with a homemade tartar sauce that was superb. the lamb dip was amazingggg
