Chef Stephanie Izard and her team are thrilled to have joined LA’s vibrant restaurant community and continue our tradition of serving bold-flavored foods in a fun and lively family-style setting. Stephanie and her team have also crafted new dishes inspired by California produce and local flavors, like carrot-tahini dip with tahini tofu, and curried goat with radishes, pickled vegetables, and masa chips. To enhance the experience we offer a selection of wines from around the world with a focus on small producers, a rotating list of craft beers, and a list of innovative cocktails created by our bartenders.

Located in the Arts District at 555 Mateo, Girl & the Goat offers dinner service Monday through Sunday, plus brunch Sunday. Girl & the Goat accepts reservations but always welcomes walk-ins, travelers and adventurers!

What can I say? I had really high hopes for Girl and the Goat being Stephanie‘s restaurant the first female top chef winner… I have to say I was extremely disappointed and let down. The service was so lackluster. I’ll probably be bold enough to say the worst service I’ve had yet. I’m in the restaurant industry and I know what I’m looking for and if I were working at this establishment, I would want to know what happened so I could fix this problem. After being sat the manager gave a little introduction about the menu and invited us in. She said someone would be with us shortly, and no one arrived for another 15 or so minutes. At which point one of the food runners saw me looking around trying to flag someone down. He then told the manager to come and help us. She came over and said “oh did you have a chance to get some food in yet??” I said no actually no one‘s been over to see us, she said oh let me go grab my notebook and pen.… Really… I then said can we please order drinks and proceeded to order. She was very nice really knowledgeable and had great recommendations. But the next time we saw somebody wasn’t until another 15 minutes when the same manager lady brought our drinks back now it’s been 30 minutes and our table has never been touched by our actual server. I’m appalled and disappointed as a server myself. The server never introduced herself with her name, and the manager didn’t make things right when we said we didn’t like a dish. One of the drinks was just too tart. We didn’t really like an either veggie dishes and nobody said anything, or apologized. They just acted like nothing was wrong. Needless to say, I doubt I will ever go back to this establishment. But I do have to say to go curry was amazingly delicious and we enjoyed the halibut dish.

Girl and the Goat was such a pleasant surprise. I didn’t expect the vibes inside and the playlist was my type of jam - rap, rb, hip hop jams. We went on the evening of the official curfew during the LA ICE protests, so the bar closed early and we felt a slight sense of “rush” during service, but overall still amazing service and food! Brussels sprouts - 10, pick veggg from the pork shank - 10, oysters - amazing, goat curry - 10 on the following day! Will definitely be back!

THE BEST FOOD WE HAVE HAD IN LA! This restaurant blew my mind! The flavor profiles were totally unique and brilliant. Every single thing we had was excellent. The hamachi poke was fantastic, the goat liver mousse with craisin relish and crispy fried crumpets was phenomenal, and maybe my favorite thing we ate! The goat belly with smoked blueberry was also fantastic. The desserts were great as well, we particularly liked the pineapple whip sorbet with smokey roasted pineapple on top.

A great twist on Asian fusion style food. We particularly enjoy the mango sticky rice.
