About this restaurant

A beautiful slice of Jersey... Giovanni Ristorante was named in memory of chef and owner Richard Grosso's late father. Giovanni came to America in 1929 during the great depression. Working two, sometimes three jobs to help support his family back in Italy. Feeding people great food is how we show our love and care for our customers. We at Giovanni pride ourselves in making people feel at home by how and what we prepare for them. This is the foundation of our southern style Italian Restaurant. We assure you, our freshly made food and our service will always be filled with the love, care and commitment that you deserve. We are open seven nights for dinner and Monday through Friday for lunch serving the finest Southern style Italian cuisine in a unique family neighborhood atmosphere. No corporate feel here. It will be like you are going to your best Italian friend's house for dinner.

Consistently good food. The music, which starts at around 9:00 on Fridays is always top notch.

As always, the food was great! It does get busy on a Saturday night, so the noise level goes up dramatically and the service got a little slow, but we weren't in a rush, so we could easily just enjoy our glass of wine while finishing up. Overall, it's a great neighborhood Italian restaurant!

Our previous favorite Italian restaurant turned into a sports bar (go figure), so we've been in search of a new neighborhood-style Italian restaurant. This is it. They are so warm and genuinely seem delighted you've come. The service is great, but their food was even better. We were very pleased to come across this restaurant on Open Table. Thanks!

I have the Veal Chop but the Chef probably forgot to season it. We always received good service previously, this time however, we waited over 20 minutes after the meal and the waiter never come. I finally have to send the busboy because my wife want desserts! Well, he still didn't come and I finally have to wave him down and asked for the check!

Met 6 friends for dinner and music at Giovanni's. We thoroughly enjoyed the jazz group, Comfort Zone, the food and energy in the restaurant.
