   The lighting was too dark to see what I was eating, to appreciate all of the many ingredients and preparation methods they, I am sure, would like their patrons to appreciate. Frankly, I don’t understand what the hype is about this place. Yes, the food was very good, but it was also very expensive. And the difficulty to get a reservation in just isn’t worth it, in my opinion. Four “handhelds”, each consisting of 3 bites will cost you about $40 and it wasn’t filling. Maybe with a soup and a salad, but that would have added another $15 to the tab. It was good but not good enough to justify the price.

   Amazing date night with my wife! The food was incredible and you can’t just walk in to sit down which is nice especially when you want to have a fancy date. You’re gonna spend between $200-$400 and I had to reserve 3 months in advance so be prepared! All worth it would 1000% to again!

   Everything was amazing. The service, the food, the sake was all exquisite. Definitely a must if you appreciate hand made well crafted high end sushi.

   Went for a birthday celebration. So glad we did! Our server (Nimra) made us feel welcomed, answered our questions, and was very attentive. Other employees were equally polite and gracious. The food was incredible and delicious! As my daughter said, "this is artistry." We had a wonderful experience and highly recommend Gi-Jin!

   Very nice, intimate vibe. Food is pricey but reasonable for sushi. Service was wonderful and the decor was amazing. Wonderful experience altogether.

   Service was amazing and the servers were on top of everything and knew their stuff. All the recommendations were on point. It is a smaller space but you aren’t on top of anyone and it’s not too noisy so you can hear the party you are with. The fish was fresh and flavors were great. They feature the fish really well in their dishes.

   I’d been looking forward to trying Gi-Jin for so long, and finally snagged a last-minute reservation for four—it was absolutely worth the wait. Although it’s located right in the heart of downtown, the space feels tucked away and intimate, almost like a hidden gem. It’s definitely lively (it’s a small, energetic space), but it didn’t interfere with our table conversation at all. We started with the edamame—personally, I would’ve loved a bit more salt, but the chili heat made it a nice opening bite. The cocktails were phenomenal, and our server was absolutely fantastic—warm, attentive, and incredibly helpful in guiding us through the menu and portion sizes for sharing tapas-style. We tried the sashimi plate (a solid selection of fresh fish), the tuna pizza (loved the scallion pancake base—tasty, though I added a touch of soy), and the beef tataki, which delivered a bold, flavorful punch and ended up being the table favorite. We also ordered a variety of hand rolls—spicy scallop, hamachi, and spicy tuna—and they were all outstanding. I honestly wish we had ordered more of those! Overall, it was a super fun dining experience with a beautifully curated menu. We left happy, especially to have such fresh, high-quality raw fish available right in downtown Pittsburgh.

    Our first dining experience was incredible. The food was immaculate, the ambiance is amazing and our server made for a perfect evening. The cocktails are prepared to perfection. The Miso soup is delicious but the star of the show for us was the dynamite crab plate. We finished with the matcha tiramisu. Highly recommend reservations as there was an event in town and walk ins were told the wait was over 2 hours. We will return.
