   For various reasons we haven’t visited Oxford recently and it was a joy to return, not least for the pleasure of visiting Gees again, which only ever gets better.

   Food good, especially lemon soufflé. House red wine was good. Gravy served separately in a small jug was how it should be, especially for diabetic diners. Service charge at 13 1/2% was excessive, especially as food charges were at top levels for their quality and selection. For that rate I expect linen serviettes and a tablecloth instead of paper and bare wood. Robin the waiter was really attentive and performed well. I liked he noticed our glass of ice needed topping up without him being asked.

   What a delightful experience! The flavours were rich, the portions were generous, and the overall vibe was just perfect. The staffs were friendly and attentive, ensuring we had everything we needed. Whether you’re looking for a casual meal or a special night out, this place is a must-visit.    Met up with some friends for a birthday lunch. Have been to Gees several times before and loved everything about it. The service is excellent and the food delicious. The only downside is the amount of time you are allowed to stay at your table especially as some guests had driven a long way for this celebration.
