   Chicken & dumplings were too soupy. Grilled artichokes were very good. Gnocchi was only so so.

   I wanted to love Garden Cafe and had been contemplating visit for about a year. I love the garden fresh food concept, so was looking forward to a visit. My husband and I were in the area today and decided to try it. Unfortunately, our experience was pretty disappointing. We were seated next to the coffee station that the servers use…which includes the loud coffee grinder. Everyone that works there was very nice, but service was pretty slow. It took longer than usual for our order to be taken and for our food to arrive at our table. We just had two brunch meals that were pretty straight forward. It just seemed a bit disorganized. When our food finally came, mine was mostly cold…maybe room temperature. My hash browns were so crispy, they weren’t really edible…just dark brown and crunchy. I asked for some lighter cooked hash browns. The new order took over 15 minutes to come out. By that time my other food was even colder. So, I asked for the new hash to be boxed to go. When I got the new hash they were sitting in a small puddle of grease at the bottom of the box. The server was kind enough to remove the hash downs from our bill. Due to poor execution of a great concept and slow service, I won’t be retuning to Harden Cafe anytime soon.

   What a quaint place. In the heart of Junius Heights and well hidden…..neat little commercial center. Food great, service and atmosphere all GREAT! Will be coming back. Just wish they had a full bar….beer and wine only.

   We had a reservation at 10:30 am when they opened. Pretty much the only ones with a reservation. We are fairly regular customers. We were the second table sat and the hostess said “there you go” pointing to the table right next to the door which was open as people were starting to come in on this cold Sunday morning. I said “are you kidding me? No thanks we will sit at the bar”. We were there for a total of 45 minutes to eat. There were still 3 empty booths not seated at the time that we left. No comment from the hostess on the way. Never even an acknowledgment.

   Fantastic food and great service. We ate outside in the garden area. It was pretty cool, but they had heaters that helped a lot. The food was unique and amazing.

   It is so nice that there are few places in town to eat plant based "clean" meals in a fun and funky atmosphere. Garden Cafe has been on our list "to try" for awhile and we finally went for Sunday brunch. There were families, couples and friends enjoying delicious food. The service was very attentive. Our meals: The Huevos del Sale and the Tofu scramble (sides of collard greens and a biscuit) were all very good. We ordered the vegan chocolate triffle and it was GREAT! It is worth the drive to be transported to a place with an Austin vibe. We can't wait to come back in the spring and summer and take advantage of the huge patio out back and see the garden in full bloom with beautiful produce. Yes, we would recommend Garden Cafe.

    Sat on the patio. Five in our party. This is a fun restaurant that serves very good food at a reasonable cost.
