   The service was very attentive and helpful. Drinks were fantastic. The crab wontons were good as well. I was not impressed with my meal. The Tom kha seemed to lack lemongrass, lime and cilantro flavors. The sushi was lovely but not flavorful. The Mongolian beef did not have green onions, but rather onions, red peppers and carrots. It seemed more like a beef stir fry.

   We entered funky geisha and to our surprise it was very quiet. There was a power cut when we got there and we understand this can’t be helped. However, we ordered 2 drinks (2 glasses of wine) and it took over 35 mins for them to arrive. We had to ask 3 times for them to be received. We were given different waiters which was very confusing so we didn’t know who to ask and they were noticeably confused as well. The restaurant was dead so unsure why the service we recieved was so poor. The food was great and did taste really good. When we asked for the bill the tip was already added which we believe isn’t fair to do especially with such poor service. The music was very strange considering it’s an Asian restaurant they were playing loud rap music which at times was quite inappropriate. It’s a shame because the setting could be lovely especially with the food being great, but sadly we won’t be returning based on our experience.

   The food was great but the power went out right at 12am on New Years. All the other clubs had power on.. partying the night away. They did not compensate at all for the bad experience

   We visited Funk Geisha last night and unfortunately, it turned out to be a rather disappointing experience. Upon arrival, the valet parking was reasonably priced compared to other venues in Tulum, which was a nice touch. The receptionist was friendly and quickly showed us to our table. The décor and ambiance were visually appealing, offering a relaxed atmosphere—at least at first glance. However, the music was excessively loud, akin to standing next to speakers in a nightclub. It made conversation impossible without shouting, which took away from the dining experience. I eventually asked the staff to lower the volume, and to their credit, they obliged. For a table of five, it took nearly an hour to receive our starters, which were good but not exceptional. The main courses then took another 45 minutes and, to our dismay, arrived cold. Given how hungry we were after waiting so long, we reluctantly ate what we could instead of sending the food back. I provided feedback to our server, who informed the manager. The manager apologised and offered complimentary dessert, but by that point, I had no confidence in the kitchen and politely declined. To make matters worse, they added a 15-18% service charge to the bill, claiming it was mandatory despite the poor service. Having dined at other restaurants within this group where tipping is optional, this felt particularly unfair. I insisted on paying 10%, which reflected the actual service provided. Unlike other restaurants in the group that feature shows or entertainment, Funk Geisha seemed to be running a generic playlist. Some of the songs were inappropriate for our teenage children, featuring heavy profanity and excessive use of the N-word, which was entirely out of place. Overall, the experience was marred by long waits for food, excessively loud music, cold dishes, and inappropriate song choices. While the staff were polite and attempted to rectify issues, the evening ultimately fell far short of expectations.

   Food all around was not good. Shrimp and lobster were so insanely overcooked. Dish flavor was poor. So unbelievably slow.

   The music is good but the food have opportunities. The taste is not great if you compare the money you invest in this restaurant.

   DO NOT GO HERE. We ate here on Friday, 12/27, at 9:30pm and despite the restaurant being near empty, the service was terrible. We waited an hour before even being brought our appetizers, which we had asked about multiple times. When we (politely) asked about our appetizers the third time, the wait staff acted confused and completely forgot we had even ordered appetizers, despite inquiring upon their whereabouts several times. Eventually, after waiting an hour and a half in an empty restaurant, we received our entrees. Or so we thought. We received 2 completely incorrect entrees and had to hunt the wait staff down to even ask about it/see about getting it corrected. 2 hours later, we received our corrected entrees, which left much to be desired. The power conveniently went out as we were trying to finally pay and leave, and the wait staff and management took ages to sort out how much our bill would be. Because we were unable to pay with a credit card, we offered to pay with cash, and were told it would be an extremely expensive exchange rate to pay in USD and had to argue back and forth over the total amount and explain to them that we were indeed paying the correct amount to them. Overall a horrible experience and extremely infuriating. A complete waste of money and time.
