We stopped in for dinner at this restaurant mid-week as we were in the area and wanted to see how the food was, we were quite disappointed in nearly every aspect of our dining experience. Our first clue should have been the fact that the restaurant was nearly empty at 6:30 and that their most recent health inspection was in the low 90’s (whereas most fast food places in the area have a 95 or better). I ordered the house lime margarita and it was weak and not very flavorable at all, I’ve had better tasting and more potent drinks out of a premixed bottle. We then had the tableside guacamole which we always order at the Mexican restaurants we frequent in NE Raleigh. This batch was mediocre at best and was under seasoned. When our main courses arrived the disappointments continued, my beef taco was filled with unseasoned ground beef that was literally dripping grease all over my plate and the so called chili relleno was nothing more than a smallish chili filled with more of the greasy ground beef and some cheese. I’ve had this dish all over the country in Mexican restaurants from little hole in the wall places to fine dining establishments and I’ve never had anything like this called a chili relleno. In fairness my child’s meal was flavorable for what it was, but how hard is it to mess up grilled chicken with queso on it? My wife had some sort of burrito with chorizo and beef strips which was pretty tasty and the only item we ordered that actually came close to hitting the mark. Factor in slow service and lackluster attention to detail from the wait staff and that sealed the deal for us, we won’t be back.

I loved it. The salsa and also cheese queso dip is delicious. I ordered the lunch chimicanga that was well priced, well portioned, and tasty. I meant to order chicken, but forgot so the chimichanga had steak, still it was very good. One of my friends very much liked her dish as well. My other friend said the chicken in her tacos was dry. I thought it looked very good. :) I'll order a drink next time. Nice atmosphere. Goood service.

The food and service were fine but .... they said that they do not use Open table for reservations and there-fore had no reservation for us. The seated us anyway after waiting for them to prepare a table.

We've eaten at Fogata Brava Grill & Tequila several times now and are very pleased. It's locally own, not a chain nor a Tex/Mex restaurant. The menu focuses on tacos and enchiladas and they offer specials about once a week. The staff is very friendly and notice what you like and make great recommendations. We've tried several of the tacos and can recommend the carnitas, tinga de pollo and cameron blacken. The enciladas de mole have a very rich dark brown mole and the enchiladas suizas have a generous amount of salsa verde. The black bean sides are very fresh and delicious.

Food was ok but not great. Ordered same dish as I’ve ordered at Gonza in N Raleigh, which is closer to where we live. Gonza is better by far. This restaurant says it’s upscale Mexican but definitely isn’t upscale. Felt like a chain restaurant and turns out it is. That wasn’t clear from the description. Also the service was very slow despite it being fairly empty and many servers being there. Our server was busy chatting most of the time with friends/family of hers who were dining there. The margarita I ordered first was a strawberry one and was good but was mostly ice and they forgot the salt. Second margarita was raspberry flavored and was terrible. We won’t be going back. This is the second time I’m writing this review as the first one was never posted for some reason.

The food is very different Mexican. Quite expensive for portion size and menu is very limited. Did not enjoy the gourmet Mexican style. Will not return.
