Nestled between East Austin neighborhoods, Este celebrates fresh seafood, Mexican cuisine, and charcoal cooking. From the team behind the East 6th favorite, Suerte, Chef Fermin and restaurateur Sam Hellman-Mass are taking their love for masa coastal.

Del equipo editorial de OpenTable: From 2024 James Beard semifinalist and acclaimed Suerte chef Fermín Núñez, this chill seafood spot is all about mariscos—think shrimp aguachiles, tuna tiradito, and oysters splashed with salsa negra. The light and airy space features white rafters and hanging plants, and happy hour spills out onto a big back deck. All of it landed Este on Bon Appétit and Esquire’s best new restaurant lists in 2023.

    It’s been a year since our last visit to Este. We had a good experience last time. This go around was mediocre at best. Our only highlights for the evening were the drinks and music.

    Amazing!!! Me and my husband went to Este to celebrate his birthday and it was an amazing experience. Our server was very nice and friendly and the food was incredible. Oysters and pescado a la crema were our favorites. Definitely coming back!

    The food at Este was amazing from start to finish. We started with the Tuna Tiradito — fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. For our mains, we had the Pescado A La Crema and the Cochinita Pibil, both of which were outstanding. Our server, Gabe (I believe), was informative, attentive, and made the experience even better with his helpful suggestions. The whole evening was thoroughly enjoyable, and we’ll definitely be coming back.

    Excellent as always, special shoutout to our server Jonathon who was incredibly charming and led us to all the correct menu selections. We will definitely be back!

    Food was 6/10 great ambiance but the place is sooo loud. I’m guessing because it’s very small and they pack it. But would be nice if it was just a tad more quiet.

    Our server was so kind and amazing but the food was so lack luster the salad was drowning in dressing,the smoked fish taco needed and acid to balance out the amount of filling would come back for oyster.

    I think Este has steadily improved each time we've been. One thing I appreciate is, although the prices can be steep, generally the portions were adequate.
