   Menu was full of the same meal over and over, just with different wording and slight variations (same salad 4 different ways depending on beef, chicken, fish on top, etc.). Table salsa tasted like watery tomato sauce. Generally unimpressed with the restaurant.

   There were only 2 other tables occupied and we definitely felt rushed out of there at 9:20-30 even though they're technically open until 10pm on Saturday. Food was good not great, but great value and cute restaurant. Couple of minor things that make a big difference -- chips are the cheapest thing in the world. Don't skimp there & give a half-bowl to the table. If you aren't going to do table-side guacamole, at least don't serve it ice-cold. Finally, the chicken mole was diced chicken. Strange. If we lived in the neighborhood, we'd probably be back occasionally, but I'm not inclined to go out of my way to return.

   El Centro in Belmont is a great place for lunch. On two occasions I ate lunch there with friends, and we were not rushed. The food was very good, and was served quickly. The salsa tasted like the vegetables were roasted, and it was homemade. The guacamole and house margarita were also excellent. I recommend this restaurant without reservation.

   Very strange experience. Made the reservation on Open Table and the only times available were 5:45pm or 8:15pm. I booked the 8:15 pm, for 3 people, and when we arrived there was literally 1 other table that was occupied. The place was completely empty on a Saturday night and yet, I couldn't book any other time? Being 1 of 2 tables in there at 8:15pm, it was a little awkward and felt like they wanted us in and out as quickly as possible. Once we placed our orders, our food came out in less than 5 minutes (not even sure how they managed to cook my steak that quickly or assemble the enchildas). Luckily we ordered drinks and guacamole (which was delicious) first, and took a little bit of time deciding what we wanted to eat, otherwise we would've been in and out in less than 30 minutes. As it was we were out in less than an hour. The food was very good, but it was just a little uncomfortable and too quick, for what I was hoping would be an evening out.

   Oh. My. God. This place is AMAZING. My friends have been telling me to go for weeks and I finally tried it and it was SO GOOD. The food? Incredible. The service? Attentive and friendly, not to mention quick. The place isn’t too loud but not too quiet. It’s a perfect every day dinner place. Can’t wait to try their brunch!

   Carne asada was excellent. Taco steak and pork carnitas were old, dry and cold. The worst tacos I ever saw. We’ve had some really authentic Mexican, we’ve had Border Cafe and now we’ve had cold meat tacos. Waitress was nice but too busy to remember we existed, refill our drinks, check on the food, etc. Told her the tacos were dried meat and if it was the norm for the taco meat, she agreed that it was dry and said sorry. End of story. Want to support local. Just can’t bring my family back when all my kids want are killer tacos.

   Overall, okay, however I wasn’t happy with my salmon dish. The fish tasted like it had been in a stew for a couple of days and it wasn’t fresh. Husband liked his burrito and son and son’s girlfriend liked the chicken tortilla soup and tacos. Guacamole was decent. Service good. Menu hard to understand because it was dark and the typeface very small. They say it’s authentic Mexican but honestly after eating the Mexican food in California this past spring, there is no way that El Centro can claim its authenticity. I won’t go back and prefer the fresh fish at the Border Cafe!
