   The food and service was all wonderful. Great quality food with great flavours and the service was really good. Friendly staff and the choice of food on menu was good and varied. Something for everyone

   We’ve been dining for 3 nights at the Holt hotel and every time it was delicious and the service 10 out 10, a bit expensive but everything is I guess these days. Highly recommend the restaurant and the hotel! 🥰

   Lovely restaurant was over run with kids, Food was very tasty. Friendly staff. Only thing 2 plates had chips in the sides. Customers don’t want to pay to eating in a nice restaurant to have it be served on chipped crockery. Also it was so quiet it needed some light back ground music playing

   We stayed three nights at The Holt and every night for dinner the “specials” were exactly the same. Surely the point of “specials” is that they change as they work alongside the full menu. The standard of food and service were good but that extra bit of variety would have been welcome.

   The service is friendly, helpful and professional. The menu is varied and is reasonably priced. The food was good. We recommend this hotel restaurant.

   We had a meal at The Holt Hotel, we haven't been there before so, we didn't know what to expect. The food was amazing the mushroom soup was superb and me and my husbands steaks were cooked to perfection. The staff were very professional and seemed happy to serve us. I would recommend this restaurant

    Upon arrival we were directed to the bar to inform them of our booking. The bar staff could not understand us so they got another staff member who asked for our name a second time. Then we were taken through to the not what I would call a restaurant but a sectioned off function room. We’re we were asked our name for a 3rd time once confirmed yet another member of staff asked for our name for a fourth time at this stage it was becoming comical. We were shown to our table and drinks came promptly. The amount of staff at one stage was greater than the amount of diners (serious overkill for 10 covers). Considering it was a valentines dinner the atmosphere was none existent not even soft background music. When the food came it was very well presented but extremely minuscule portions, the tender stem broccoli with the main was more than al-Dante more like warm raw. The fish was very tasty and well cooked but the skin had a slimly undercooked texture and obviously no attempt at crisping the skin. The desert option was a joke my wife had a completely different menu to myself and when we asked the staff which one is correct they didn’t know. They stood there for around 10 minutes discussing it before someone went to the kitchen to ask. We were constantly being started at by the staff whilst they spoke about their personal lives all stood around a computer screen. All in all not a very good experience and considering the overall bill came to over £100 I would of liked to of left there with a feeling of satisfaction rather than going home and feel the need for something to eat. Not an establishment we shall frequent. Such a shame as it is very local to us

    Hi Simon, I am very disappointed that you found it necessary to write such a negative review. Considering there was ample staff on duty, you never once brought any of the numerous issues you mentioned to any staff members attention. We have a brilliant reputation for our food as over ninety percent of our reviews endorse that. One of the things that we are renowned for is, our service to our customers. If we do get things wrong and not to your satisfaction, we should be first to know about it. We would have rectified the majority of your issues there and then. I do apologise if the ambience was not to your liking. We certainly do not serve supermarket cheese to our customers. We use very reputable suppliers. Kind regards, The Holt Hotel Management
