This is the joint your mama warned you about. Dick’s serves up buckets of barbecued ribs, chicken, catfish, shrimp and crab legs. Platters include steaks, crabby cakes, salmon, chicken and even salads for the wimpy eater. Lunch includes sandwiches, salads and buckets of good food. The wait staff is irreverent by design, and the decor is local garage-sale stuff. Seventy-four kinds of beer. Live music, no cover, no dress code and definitely no class. I’ve heard about Dicks for years so finally checked it out. It was fun but I don’t feel like it lived up to the hype. Food and drinks are really overpriced. Lower your prices and be a little more rude and Dicks will live up to the hype. I saw one table get up and leave because they thought the waitress was too rude. If you’re gonna go there, toughen up or stay home!

The place was empty upstairs, we, my wife and I, asked to go down stairs, they would not let us downstairs. Hostess told us we must sit at one of two long tables in the middle of the building up next to a brick wall. We ask to be seated next to one of the windows, again we were told that was not possible. We sat as instructed, I ordered a drink and we started looking around. My drink came and was pretty watered down. We decided not to eat there, it seemed kind of dirty, there were crumpled napkins on the floor in the isle. We were not even allowed to leave through the downstairs door. We circled around and went down to the Riverwalk as we passed Dicks I noticed a few tables with a view available there. We ate at The Lone Star Cafe next door. A good meal with a view.

My son graduated from Lackland AFB and wanted a different type of restaurant. The theme/attitude was great, view by the riverwalk was awesome, good was average and similar prices compared to other places we hit this past week. Overall it was a fun time and unique and my airman enjoyed it.

We had a great time. The food was fresh and tasted fantastic. Highly recommend, just make sure you're not easily offended.
