   We had the 5 course tasting menu plus the specials of Moreton Bay Bug and cave matured cheddar cheese. This was enough. Our wait staff Elan, Leon and our sommelier whose name I just can't recall were attentive but not in your face. The ambience was good and the drinks and meals expertly prepared. Overall we had a lovely experience at DD Bistro, which was our first time in many years. It seems they must be doing something right as the restaurant / bar has seemed to expand since last time.

   Table behind us (6 people) were very loud, and after about an hour, appeared to be somewhat further ahead than everyone else in the room on the drinking roster. They got louder. The room is narrow and the sounds travelled very well. We asked if the waiter could perhaps have them be reminder that there are other people in the restaurant. They said they would talk to the manager about it. They didn't revert to us, so when they came back again, we asked again. They said they had spoken to them. The table was in eyesight. The manager (or any other server) never approached them. We were going to stay for drinks after dinner but really didn't want to have this table of six (6) people kicking off next to us.

   Overall amazing dinning experience. The long course degustation was on point with generous and interesting courses. The standout was the amuse-bouche and the kangaroo. However what did it for us was the wine paring. So interesting and unexpected but perfect. This was all made better with the exceptional service Thank you

   We had the short course degustation. The food was tasty, what there was of it. For a seven course dining experience, I would expect enough small courses to make up a meal but I was still hungry at the end, so I don't feel we got good value. The restaurant refused to be flexible. I would have liked the paired wines but I can't comfortably drink seven half glasses without being unwell, so I asked for the five course pairing (matches the food but two courses less) and they wouldn't do it. I found that unreasonable. The toilets were embarrassingly bad for a restaurant that put so much effort into the rest of the ambience. Maybe there was building work going on or something. The gents was tiny and grim (I could see right into it through the open door) and the ladies was slightly nicer but reached through this strange room that was halfway blocked off with furniture and dark. It was very odd. Struck a bum note. Overall, the restaurant has good quality food but is let down by unwillingness to cater to guests' needs, unsatisfying portions and basic toilet facilities more suited to a pokies pub.

   Loved the concept of the dishes, presentation and combination of flavours. The tomato consome was truly amazing! Looking forward to my next food experience there. The ambiance of the dining rooms are sooo inviting! Moody and dark but but oh so comfortable! And loved the decorative touches, such as the old prints, great modern take on an secular staged room! It really adds to the dining experience.
