   it appears COVO La Jolla is closed, without notice to OpenTable. Too bad, because they had great music in the bar and I felt safe alone. I saw "Give Me Back My Wig Band" there a couple of times and the place was rocking.

   Unfortunately there was a paper sign taped to the door stating they were closed due to water damage, however we had a reservations and should have been notified prior to arriving with our guests. Apparently they have been closed for 2 weeks.

   Anna Danes does an excellent job of getting great talent at her venue. We loved the music and ambiance!

   I made an 11 p.m. booking here for dinner after a show at LJ Playhouse, knowing that our show wouldn't end before 10:15, and not wanting to show up late for a reservation. I received a message the day of stating that they'd still be open at that time, but that the entertainment was scheduled to stop at 11 (which I'd noticed when I made the reservation) and offering to move my reservation earlier if I wanted. I will say that the place is really pretty and has a nice atmosphere overall. We arrived around 10:35 and seated immediately. Soon after, I noticed something on the table stating that there was a 2 drink minimum purchase requirement per person. This bothered me a bit because I'd driven instead of Ubering, and I'd had a cocktail before our show. I was planning to have one glass of wine with dinner but nothing more to ensure I'd be safe to drive 15 miles home. Had I been informed of the minimum, I'd have either picked a different place or planned our transport differently. I didn't even address that, because I was starving (10:45 is later than I normally have dinner). When I asked for a food menu, I was told their kitchen had closed at 10:15. Who closes their kitchen 45 minutes ahead of scheduled dinner parties with reservations? Accepting that this may be my mistake, I checked OpenTable to see if it said anything about the kitchen closing at the early hour. It doesn't. Nor does their website. In fact, their online food menu has the open hours of 7 p.m.-1 a.m. appearing. The website also says in large print "Feed your late night cravings" above the link to that lounge food menu, which to me is their way of promoting themselves as a late night dining establishment, which, by the way, was the single most significant criteria influencing my decision to choose that restaurant for that evening. On top of that, the "entertainment" was two women on stage (one signing, and one playing keyboard), who by all indications appeared completely high on some sort of drugs.

   Our waitress was not good or attentive. We kept running out of coffee, water, and drinks. I ended up tipping the waiter that was serving the table next to us because I kept asking him to get our waitress. I asked him to fill our water glasses several times, which he did.

   Covo is an elegant and beautifully decorated gem of a restaurant, good for couples or a group. The service is impeccable and the food delicious. We’ve only been there on Friday and Saturday nights when they have entertainment. They’re making changes which will include breakfast, lunch and dinner.

   Had a great time seeing “on the DL” local new band. They were off the hook entertaining everyone with the music and conversations.

   Went to Covo Lounge in La Jolla for the first time and it was wonderful! We got there at 7:30pm, live music started at 8pm. Cedrice was an amazing singer and performer! Highly recommend for a evening of Jazz/R&B. Great food and atmosphere. Not overcrowded. Music noise level was perfect. Will be going again!
