   Having been here before, we knew that this wonderful little restaurant set up in a fish market after hours was just the safe and restorative space we needed at the start of the pandemic. Very fresh fish simply prepared is delicious. No filler crab cakes looked small but were so rich that I didn't want more. The equally simple veggies don't compete with the fish. The service and ambiance, even to newcomers, is very friendly and engaging - more like eating at someone's home than a restaurant. We will make the trip up from the Bronx again.

   The place was a fish market until a ,530 pm, then a mlnl resaurant . The prices were too high for the portions and the Menu was changed too short. NEVER AGAIN will I go . HARVEY K.

   Perfect for lunch or dinner. This is a casual restaurant with whimsical decorations. The people that run it were very friendly and the service was great. The food was absolutely delicious - loved their soup and salad with grilled shrimp was fresh and so tasty.

   Our overall experience was excellent! The fish was perfectly cooked and very fresh!! We will definitely return.

   Food is fresh and delicious...straight out of the seafood case...Robby is an a amazing host! Get the key lime pie for dessert!

   We used to love Contes! We really did - you always knew you were getting a delicious, fresh and well-prepared meal. But last weekend, unfortunately, changed all of that. The steamed clams for the table were delicious. When our waitress informed us that the Yellow Tail was "sushi quality", I asked for mine "as rare as possible". When the table of 4 was served, 3 entrees came out. Mine didn't come till about 5 minutes later and it was literally charred. The waitress immediately apologized and took it back. Again, I repeated that I wanted it practically raw and to just have it cooked for a minute on each side. Once again, it was served to me thoroughly cooked and well-done. Imagine my distress, however, when the chef came out of the kitchen with a knife in his hand, stood over me and CUT INTO THE FISH ON MY PLATE and informed me that it was rare! Everyone, including our server, could not believe their eyes. Needless to say, despite the fish being removed from the bill and two desserts on the house, none of the once loyal Contes patrons that were with us that night will ever return.

   I used to go here in the '80s and didn't love it but now I love it and can't wait to go back. Everything was perfect!!!

   We make it a point to have dinner at Conte's every time we stay in the area to watch our daughter's home whole she, our son in law and granddaughter travel. We are never disappointed.

    The menu is sparse and the food is just okay. The service was slow as well. Based on the reviews, I expected a lot better.
