Nested in Uphams Corner, Dorchester, we're a lively and intimate 30-seat restaurant serving brunch on the weekend and dinner at night with a full bar and outdoor patio. Our food is a celebration of the ingredients and flavors of the African diaspora connected from Asia to the Americas — global comfort food. We are proudly Black-owned, immigrant-owned, and women-owned. We believe that food is a vital aspect of community building and we envision a place that is actively engaged in highlighting the culture, art, and history of our community.

- Patio dining: patio reservations are weather-dependent and may be canceled due to inclement weather. Our patios are partially covered protecting from light to moderate rain and light wind.

- Timing: dinner's last seating is at 8:45pm and brunch's last seating is at 1:30pm. Your table is reserved for 90 mins for parties of 1-5 guests and 2 hrs for parties of 6+ guests.

The restaurant, led by managing partner Biplaw Rai, is a nod to the rich contributions of immigrants to this country. Dishes embrace the ingredients and flavors of the African diaspora, which means you'll find West African-style suya beef with caramelized onions and spicy Ghanian plantain preparation kelewele. Get in on the celebrations in the light and airy dining room or the greenery-lined patio in the back, all part of what was once a historic rest station in Upham's Corner.

The brunch was sub-par. I really enjoyed their non-alcoholic cocktail but the size of the glass was ridiculous, compared to how much paid for it. Their basque cheesecake was self-proclaimed (by the waiter) to be the best in the city, but honestly it was the most plain cheesecake I ever had. Even with orange infused caramel, that thing had no redemption. Also, the orange infused caramel does not work. It was just bad. The pepper stew was ridiculous, a really cheap knock off shakshuka at best. The breadfruit hash was awful. I loved their momos and country bread but that’s about it. I had such high hopes and I’m so disappointed.

Hi Rita! Being human, we don't always hit the mark, but are always working to improve. We'e glad to hear you enjoyed out free-spirited cocktail! We've created a space for what we call free spirited drinks at CK becuase all to often many places will give you a pint glass of mostly juice and call it a day. As you may be aware, our cuisine celebrates the intersections of West Africa and South Asia. While shakshuka is delicious in its own right, our pepper stew is by no means a knockoff. In fact, that's exactly why we do what we do – we are here to shine light on the food of our cultures that's often overlooked. We'd love to hear more about what specifically you didn't care for in the hash or cheesecake (a day 1 staple!), and would be happy to have you back in to get it right. Thanks!

Fabulous food and excellent service! We loved it and we’re going back. Their mission and vision are wonderful and the food speaks volumes. They were so helpful with an accommodation for a food allergy and they understand how to do gluten free for celiac disease.
