It takes most people 10 minutes to get from 1st Avenue to Madison Avenue. It's taken Salvatore Lombardi 30 years. Obviously, Mr. Lombardi is a man who does not like to rush. You see, Salvatore ran Campagnola, one of New York's most famous Italian restaurant for over three decades. So, when it came time to open his own place, he chose carefully.
Mr. Lombardi practically invented hospitality, and it is evident the moment you enter Come Prima. The ambiance, service, and of course the food, add up to an evening you won't soon forget.
And best of all, Salvatore won't forget you.

This is my friend's favorite restaurant in NY. When she lived here, we went several times. Now that she only visits NY, we make sure to have a meal here every time. Never disappoints

One of my favorite Italian restaurants in NYC, Salvatore is a great host, an excellent menu always. Try the veal, the branzino or any of the pastas!

We Had a wonderful experience. The Food was great! The Wine List is terrific. The waitstaff was attentive but not overbearing. We Will return.

The service was not great and the food was not good and super expensive, we spent $300 for two and it was terrible disappointing.

The high point was the food. Salads, pastas and fish dishes were all excellent. Something about the service and the ambience wasn't quite clicking -- it may have been that the pretty but shrill folks at a neighboring table were sucking up all the oxygen. It's pricey: nearly $500 for four with tax and tip and a very modest beverage tab. (The wine choices were limited and the markups vertiginous, so we stuck with cocktails.)
