The Clare bar is a refreshing take on your traditional watering hole, embracing the same ethos that made its prior incarnation so beloved. Striking the balance between a chilled Aussie pub and a hotel bar, it’s a place to relax, have a drink and have a chat.

We’ve kept the room’s original wall tiles and inclusive attitude, where locals, travellers, artists and everyone in-between is welcome to gather around the large curved bar. The outdoor seating area overlooks the bustling Broadway and Kensington Streets, perfect for people watching and soaking up the city vibes. Whether it be for a cheeky midday beer with lunch or cocktails and snacks in the evening, The Clare is a place to hang out solo, with friends or for special occasions.

*We have lunch specials Monday to Friday from 12pm-2:30pm.

    Noise level is much better these days, it is lower so we can actually talk, the beers are good, Akasha and Mountain Culture, would like to see more choice as to stronger IPAs above 6%, service was quite slow despite small numbers in the bar, food when delivered was excellent, had a thoroughly enjoybable evening.

    An amazing space. Great staff and excellent food and drinks. A really good selection of meals for their lunch specials. The Chicken Quesidillas were amazing.

    Whilst we did not eat here, the menu looked excellent and the meals we observed looked amazing. The drinks were all locally sourced, mainly from Sydney or NSW and the service was excellent. The noise was at a great level that our friends and ourselves could talk at a normal level. Overall a great experience.

    Unfortunately one of our group had not received their meal by the time everyone else in the party had finished their meal. The staff did not seem bothered by this and made zero effort to rectify the situation and were not really apologetic.

    I could not even get in. Wedding parties booked out the venue, so why wasn’t I told by open table?
