Chula is a modern Mexican restaurant with a cradle of agave spirits and cocktails.

Like our name means, our beautiful restaurant flows into an outdoor covered dining space with semi-private dining options, lounge and bar.

A menu that transports you to the coast of the Baja peninsula, the streets of Mexico city, the countryside of Oaxaca and beyond. Traditional Mexican flavours combined with exceptional Australian ingredients matched with our selection of drinks inspired directly by the people, places and culture of Mexico- alive, constantly evolving and always full of surprises.

We have a focus on sustainability in the venue and many of our ingredients our house made.

    We booked a table at Chula for a friends birthday. The lady who helped to coordinate the booking was very helpful, and was able to get back to me quickly with any questions I had. On the day we had the $40 set menu and $45 bottomless brunch. We booked for 10 and had a last minute addition for part of it which made it 11. When he had to leave half way through, they gave him a takeaway bag with tacos which was very thoughtful. The main waitress was very helpful and did a great job with catering to the multiple dietary requirements (no seafood, gluten free and pescatarian) Food and drinks were lovely! The only issues we had were: 15 mins out from the two hour package they denied us another round of drinks, even though none of us were displaying behaviour that would be against an RSA (two of us have our RSA so we are educated enough to make the call) - we received the round after one of our group members talked to the manager. And the second thing was a $100 surcharge fee. This is extremely overpriced. Adding a 10% surcharge for bookings over 8 people is a bit ridiculous. Making it $95 per head rather than $85 which is the package we chose. As a group we were already spending $935 for the 2 hours, and to have a significant additional cost to that amount seems in poor taste. I think Chula should reassess their policy on this. As much as we liked the service and experience, this alone would stop us from returning and would have me advising others against a group booking here.

    It was nice experiencing food by an actual Mexican chef. Staff were friendly. disappointed that we were rushed to move to another seat after our desert due to over booking. If we were left to rest a little after our desert it would of made our exp a little better. I felt sick after all the food and from the disappointment. We spent a lot of money for only 2 ppl. Could have been treated with more respect and valued as a customer and not a number. You guys suck at singing happy birthday as well. Take note from other bars/ restaurants who are also busy but take time to make customers feel special on their birthdays. Minor things but could brush up on these small things that could save you from dissatisfied customers. Overall food was amazing and Mexican drinks was amazing to exp. might come back with family hopefully we don’t get moved somewhere else due to over booking

    Thank you so very much for looking after us. We were very excited having won an award and you let us celebrate in style. Apologies if we were a bit loud. The food and service was exceptional. Can't wait to come back. Thanks again.

    We had to ask in 5 different occasions for a potatoes that we ordered as starter and it came as the last dish, even after finishing the main course.

    I found the service very rushed, we ordered entree and main at the same time and it came all put at the same time. To the point that we had no time to finish what was on our plate before the staff was rushing us. Staff kept wanting to clear plates even if there weren't finished. Kept pouring us more wine every 2mon that we had to ask them to stop. Even though we had a 8.45pm booking, it Felt like they wanted to get rid of us. We also had 2 staff looking after our table who clearly didn't communicate with each other as we're were asked the same questions by both of them numerous times. I had been to Chula a couple of times and always found it nice and relaxing but this time around was stressful and not enjoyable. Will not return anytime soon! Such a bummer.

    I have been before and the service was good. This time the guy that served us was dreadful - wrong meals and very slow and quite rude. I was disappointed and won’t be rushing back

    Great Mexican, a favourite! Tacos, Tlayudas, Aguachile - all very fresh and tasty. Nice selection of wines and Tequilas too.

    The restaurant itself is fantastic, and certainly has lots of potential. Service was super slow, not very energetic and quite rude by the staff members. When the bill came we gor charge for 7pax, 14 bottles of water (that we did't order). The staff member mentioned that they just keep bringing the water during the night even tho we didn't order.! We also got in the first bill 2 extra entrees that were not ordered. It's hard to understand how can service be so inefficient in a almost empty restaurant. Food was ok

    Thanks for your feedback,We have taken your feedback on board and addressed with the team for our lack of efficiency on the day.. it was an honest mistake of doubling on the button when it was 14 guests charged not 7 guests, we do free flow sparkling water on tap at $5 per head, which was immediately taken off from your bill on the night along with the entree, sorry for the inconvenience.
