                                                                                                                                            The restaurant decor is really beautiful. That's what attracted me to dining at Chopal. My boyfriend and I came here for Valentine's Day and I thought the decor was a nice fit. The service was ok. The waiter asked us to place our order maybe 30 seconds after we sat down. It felt rude but I assumed he was trying to be efficient. After receiving our meal, he never came to check on us and it took a long time to get the check. The food was also a miss for me. My boyfriend got the chili chicken and that was delicious! But I ordered the Chopal Combo #1 which was salmon tikka, shrimp, and a fish filet over rice. Everything was so bland. There was no flavor whatsoever. I deeply regretted my decision. Also the garlic naan we got was hard and really dry. I really wanted to love this place because of the decor and the price, but the food overall is not good.

                                                                                                                                            The young woman who served us, gave us lots of attention. Of course it was 6:30 PM on Saturday night and there was no one else was in the restaurant. It might have been the snowy night or the fact that the rush in Indian restaurants does not begin until later in evening? . NO liquor license. I actually really enjoy BYOB places, because I save money and always have the type of wine that I like. Food. The 2 dishes we ordered, were tasty and I would rate "good". The curry chicken was very good. Additionally, our server brought us tastes of 3 other dishes, compliments of the "chef". I would not normally order goat, but goat has a whole page on the menu. Recommend for those seeking low price and tasty food.

                                                                                                                                            Since we were stranded in Chicago for 2 days, we decided to go to Chopal for dinner. We were the only customers on a very cold night in Chicago (Jan 3). I had last been to this restaurant in 2010. Suffice it to say that the consistency of the food is remarkable. The lamb/goat biryani and the combo chicken kebab and boti kebab platter were outstanding. The mango lassis served in a refrigerated tajin pot were outstanding with enough left to take back to our hotel in to go cups. The hostess served us a complimentay hot soup (akin to egg drop soup) with accompaniments that enhanced the flavor of the soup (onions/green chile). If you like Indo/Pak cuisine, this is the restaurant to visit while in Chicago.
