We were seated right away and the restaurant was the perfect location for dinner before a show at the Kodak. But the sushi was very mediocre—no better than you would find at a grocery store. Tempura and gyoza were fine, and there was a wide range of cocktails to choose from. Probably best for drinks and small bites.

Located on top level of Hollywood Highland with excellent view, this restaurant is a wonderful celebration of Japanese art, culture and food. Every item on display here is for sale - from kimonos and statues to bottles of saki, flowers and baskets. As evidenced by an 8 page menu, there is a wide variety of food, including soup, salads, sashimi, baked Sushi, shabu shabu, tempura and California rolls. Sushi here is fresh, as are California rolls; tempura is lightly battered with fresh vegetables and shrimp. Miso soup didn't have good taste, but had good aroma and texture. Service here was okay. Server forgot what we ordered, and was a little slow; it was pretty slow when we arrived, so no need for delay. But, food was worth wait. I am interested in returning to try shabu shabu.

The food is not so well, we had a Shabu Shabu, actually it comes with noodles but the waiter did not notify us and let us order one more noodles.

Exceptional service! Had a party of 7 that was very well taken care of! Love the experience of shabu shabu is always fun and delicious. Sharing broth with one other person I suggest a combo full size or one meat truck size if your trying to feel way too full. Add those shabu sides while your at it and apps will be an overkill. Enjoy.

We were on a family vacation, the location is great. However, the food quality was somewhat below my expectation.

The food was fantastic, atmosphere good, and staff was amazing. However, during our vistit, there was another group of 6 that came in right behind us with no reservation. They were rude, starting with, walking around everyone waiting in line and demanding a table to be sat at immediately. The hostess did not accommodate their immediate request, all the while being polite, and continued to seat those of us that were there with reservations. This outraged the other group. They then began walking around the restraunt, checking tables, yelling at staff, hovering over tables, etc, including the table we were sat at, saying "that should have been their table" and wouldn't move away as we were ordering and then trying to enjoy our meal. When I spoke to the manager about how completely rude these folks were to his staff and to other patrons, he "shushed" me as to not upset the group further. He was more concerned about whoever these people were than his staff or the other customers. Quite frankly, they should have been asked to leave. No one should behave so entitled. Very disapppointing. They disrupted the entire restaurant and the manager allowed it. Having said that, this was an isolated event and I'm sure doesn't happen often. However, the managers complete lack of concern for how his staff was being treated was disppointing.

I was disappointed in the total lack of service. Our server never came to the table to check up on us and we had to flag down someone else to get our server to come to us when we needed something. I thought the food was nothing special and I didn't think it was worth the total bill. I will not be returning.
