After nearly 30 years in their midtown location, China Grill is making its downtown premier for a limited run at Asia de Cuba on Lafayette Street. Heralded as a pioneer of fusion cuisine at its 1987 debut, China Grill’s Asian–Inspired World Cuisine led diners on an imaginative culinary journey inspired by Marco Polo’s travels along the Silk Road—fusing Asian and European flavors and techniques. Portions are generous, dramatically presented, and meant to be shared family style. Menu standouts include Lobster Pancakes, Crackling Calamari Salad, Spicy Salmon Crispy Rice & Lamb Spareribs.

The PopUp might appeal to long-time habitues of China Grill, but was extremely disappointing to a first-time visitor. Although the kitchen seemed well-staffed, and a flock of servers hovered near us, we waited for an hour for the first sign of food to arrive at our table. The dishes we chose were heavily sauced, and the flavors were muddy. Hard to believe that this is a good facsimile of the original China Grill.

Very good restaurant. Friendly waiters, tasty food. Amazing salat with duck! And super deserts!

We love China Grill and we're hoping that the pop-up would relieve us of our separation anxieties. It doesn't it's not worth the trip it's very pricey and the food although good is that worth another trip back even with the lovely ambience of that restaurant

Loved The Pop Up Great service and delicious food and great variety. Wonderful to experience China Grill in this setting - hope the pop up moves downtown full time.!

We were there to celebrate our 32nd wedding anniversary. We are from Los Angeles and used to go to the original China Grill in New York at the Eisenhower location. The food here was just as good. Music great. Motown was great. Service was great too. We will be back.
