As a Cuban who doesn't find Cuban restaurants very often, I'm often suspicious as to the authenticity of the recipes. And having visited Havana recently, I was looking to experience the flavors and seasonings specific to the island. I found it in spades at Chicky Boom. The chef came out to talk to us and even gave us a sample plate of the pork before we ordered it. It was cooked to perfection, expertly seasoned, and melted in your mouth. If i lived closer I'd probably come back once a week.

The Red Snapper was wonderful, crisp and well worth it. The Yucca fries were better last time but still good. The Vaca Frieta was also very good. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone that wants authentic Cuban food.

The restaurant played loud, unpleasant music. We had to ask for them to lower the volume because we could not hear ourselves talk. A group of 4, 2 men and 2 women came in shortly after we arrived and they were so very loud and boisterous that other patrons including our table had to tell them to tone it down. They did for a very brief time but went right back to their loud yelling. The servers and owner did not say a word to this group. We ate quickly and left. The service and food was good but unfortunately we will not return.

our service was fine but we witnessed some issues with courses being delivered together. everything seemed very disorganized , also tables were extremely close together. you couldn't even move your chair. front of house didn't seem to know what was going on. surprisingly the food was pretty good.come with low expectations as far as service is concerned.

We had a party of 15, and everyone loved their meal. It took a few hours from beginning to end, but that is to be expected with so many people. Service was great and food was fabulous!

We got there at 7pm w a reservation which I relayed which the manager? behind the counter picked up, but not the person seating us. Seating was very tight. The waiter was attentive. Shares a huge delicious avocado salad. Then it went downhill. The lights dimmed & the music blasted. I had a dinner ropa vieja w rice & beans & sweet plantains. ropa vieja was ok but way too small a portion; rice & beans ok, plantains needed honey ore something. Due to a party of 16 next to us we didn't stay for dessert. It was way too noisy. They need to try harder.

We decided to give Chikyboom a try tonight because my husband loves eating Cuban food while at work In NYc and sadly this restaurant was not what we had hoped. The chicken empanadas were good. But our entrees were not very exciting. My husband's pork was not hot. My shrimp dish was good (lemon, butter, garlic) but I could easily make it at home. Maybe we didn't make the right selections. The service was just ok as well. Overall it was an average dining experience. Nothing exceptional like other local restaurants.
