   We found Chestnut by chance, looking on Google. We had eaten at sister restaurant Corner Cafe a number of times but didn't know about Chestnut. It was a pleasant surprise. Retro decor, top notch wait staff, and tasty food. For lunch, we split the kale salad with calamari followed by the bread pudding. Both dishes were excellent. Highly recommend Chestnut.

   We've been to Chestnut 2 times before and LOVED it! But the menu has changed and it's less-wonderful than it was before. The Chestnut Salad was changed and ordinary (it used the be so great), and our whole fish was blah. Appetiser was good and we might have it again. (Sorry but don't remember what it was; a lot has happened since the end of Dec'16). Other couple was pleased but not wow'd as we told they they would be. We didn't have dessert since we hadn't been quite as pleased with the dinner. FYI, because it was just good, I wondered if they'd changed chefs or ownership in the past 2 years, but they have not.

   This was a last minute dinner plan with the husband since we were on vacation for our one year anniversary. This place was amazing. The steaks were cooked perfectly and we shared a vanilla bourbon creme brulee and I'm pretty sure my husband ate more of it than I did and I am the dessert person.

   Overall a very good restaurant some dishes better than others. Service was very good. The food choices were not really my style or taste. I would recommend.

   Chestnut is my favorite restaurant in Asheville. Staff is wonderful, ambience is great for anything between a romantic meal and a company dinner. They have a nice bar area. Portions are moderate (don't expect a trough of food like you get at a chain restaurant) , but I will take quality over quantity any day. For the quality you get, the prices are fairly moderate and worth it. Probably only costs about $30 more than dinner for 2 at Olive Garden. The menu changes regularly. Make SURE to save room for their desserts. The souffle is divine! I walk out of their feeling satisfied every time.

   The food was fantastic and the service was impeccable. Love that they serve house made charcuterie. Great place for a date or late night bite. Will definitely return.

   Food was outstanding but service left something to be desired - waitress clearly wanted us out of there (I guess 845 is last reservation?) and we felt very rushed and as if we were an inconvenience... kitchen had mystery 'problems with the souflee pans' (aka didn't feel like making any more despite us ordering as our main came out). Brought our dessert out before we even finished taking a breath after finishing main course. (Again, clearly wanted us gone) Worth going for the outstanding food, just don't be the last reservation...

   We enjoyed a really great meal here with friends the other night. Our waitress was extremely helpful and friendly. We ordered the mussels, fried green tomatoes and pork belly to start. Dinner 3 of us did the pork chop ( amazing) and one did the salmon. Everything was cooked perfectly we will definitely return

    Although we are local to Asheville, this was our first visit to Chestnut. But, I'm pleased to say this won't be our last!! Our dishes, the ambiance, and the service were all outstanding. We can see why Chestnut is such a hit with locals and visitors alike.
