   The restaurant was closed. How were we able to make a reservation when the restaurant is not even open????

   Seeing that it is hard to find a good steak in Anchorage Alaska, I tried a place known for good steak. The cuts were not great - and preparations were good but not having better quality cuts surely shows... NY and Ribeye ordered and were both poor cuts. Consolation - the wagon wheel campfire coupon made it a little easier on the pocketbook, but if paying a steak house for a good cut, a good steak, it was off the mark there...

   The service was unusually bad. It was not busy yet it took 10 minutes for our server to come. She took both drink and food orders. It was another 20 minutes before she even brought our drinks. 30 minutes after ordering we got our salads and 10 minutes after that our appetizers and dinner came out together. There were also errors on the order. She never asked if we wanted refills on drinks. We come here quite often and I have to say that the service is going downhill.

   Kitchen was backed up, which led to tables being so as well. We had to wait for a couple bar stools to open and after an hour, we were seated after 9pm for our 8pm reservation. The manager apologized and ended up comping our meals, but we didn't get them until almost 10pm. Overall, not the Valentine's dinner I had hoped for.....

   unfortunately, we chose Valentine's Day to eat here, along with 100 or so of my closest friends. The line for reservation check-in was out the door. The hostess was checking in people quickly, but the crowd filled the reception area, the bar, and the aisle way. People who had reservations at 6:30 and 6:45 were still waiting to be seated at 7:15. Once we were seated, the server was quick to get to the table to take drink orders, but it took about 15 minutes to get a server to take our food order. We were seated at approximately 7:15. We didn't get our dinner until almost 8:30pm. There were people who didn't have reservations, arrived at 7:00pm. They chose to wait for an open table. They got seated as the doors were being closed at 9:00. I ordered a surf and turf. The vegetables and shrimp were cold, the steak was almost warm, the crabcake and the potatoes were hot enough to eat. The manager ended up comping my meal. And from hearing conversations at other tables, it appears the manager paid for a lot of meals that night. The kitchen staff was overwhelmed by the volume, and the usual high standard of the meals was compromised. I will eat there again, just not on a holiday.

   It was Valentines Day and it was PACKED! Long waits to get in, Though we had reservations, and were only about 7 minutes late to be seated. The service was fine, but the order of food did have something wrong and were told it would be fixed and switched out, but never was. We waited an extra 15 minutes, but never had it resolved. So we left.
