   Carmine's is well-known as one of the best restaurants in Ybor. The food - ranging from salads or cuban sandwiches, to crab pasta or shrimp piccata - is delicious, fresh, and unique to the Tampa area's culture. The server was attentive and even my somewhat picky parents were pleasantly surprised with the meal. The only (minor) downside was that it's not at all a quiet place to enjoy your meal, probably still one of the most chill places to eat in Ybor, so if you're looking for some outstanding food to start a night out in the area and aren't looking for a romantic candlelight ambiance, this is a great place to go. Also, my cocktails were perfect and less expensive than I was expecting.

   We went there to try their cuban sandwich, which my husband ordered and loved, but I had a hankering for a meatball sandwich to go along with my malbec. The malbec was good, not the best, but the meatball sandwich was really good. Very well seasoned and extra dipping sauce. It was nice of the waitress to ask if I wanted cheese on it. My husband had the red velvet cheesecake, which was nice to see a smaller portion and I went for the sweet plantains, which were a little greasier than what I am used to, but nothing a little dabbing on a napkin won't hurt.

   The menu is slightly confused. There is a blend of Spanish/Italian items and then American fare to appease the masses. Think if they stuck with one theme the menu would stand out a little more. Food was cooked well though and tasty, so you'd go more so to enjoy the cool atmosphere in Ybor while not worrying about getting mugged.

   We book a Yelp reservation and we're seated ahead of time at a great table viewing the street with lots of folks enjoying Ybor City. Matthew provided excellent service! Devil Crabs and fantastic Cubans exceeded our expectations!! Just like our five previous visits!

   2nd time back with our entire team, Excellent food, excellent seating, excellent location, waitress was wonderful, food took very long to arrive but honestly it's a great environment to be in so it didn't matter!

   Made a reservation for 8 of us for 8 pm. They sat us at a high top table at the bar and our server was the bartender. So not only was he taking care of us, he also had everyone at the bar and was assisting all the other servers with their drink orders for their table. We finally got his attention. Ordered appetizers. We waited 40 minutes. I had to go to the manager to get things going. We finally got our entrees 90 minutes later after we first sat down. The grouper fish was good but very salty the steak malinase was over cooked and tasted horrible. The company we had was good, but the service and quality of food was the worst I've had in a long time. Would not recommend this place to anyone.

   Great food and reasonably priced drinks made this our pick over the commercialized place down the street that is more well known. My pork chops were grilled perfectly with a delicious mojo topping. The black beans and yellow rice were delicious and the diced tomatoes, onions and scallions on top were the best. The tossed salad was good and not as salty as others. My kids all liked the Cuban sandwiches they ordered and the grouper bites were a good appetizer for the table. The deviled crab was too spicy for anyone but me, but that was ok because I polished it off easily. Unique preparation because the deviled crab was fried in a ball like a croquette instead of stuffed in a crab shell like I am accustomed to in the rest of Florida. Carmines was good for our party of 7 with three little kids because the server was very attentive. We will be back the next time we are in Tampa because it is just down the street from the IKEA.

    This was some of the worst Cuban food I have had in years. This please has been in Ybor City for a generation and is known to be a landmark. The waitress was weak. The food was salty, tough and less than mediocre. They wanted to charge for Cuban bread...that was our cue to leave but our friends chose the place. Sorry to see a place like this go downhill. Go elsewhere...anywhere else.
