   Booked last minute as needed a table for 13, great find as food and service were excellent which was enhanced by the great value for money

   We went for Valentines night meal. Table was ready early. Good set meal and a free glass of champagne as well as a la carte. Service excellent. Jazz singer singing love songs not intrusive but added ambience. Good surroundings. Tables well spaced. Food very nice and well presented. Will come again.

   Very nice ambiance close to the Cathedral so we always go here for lunch. Food is fairly expensive for what it is and dishes are not over large which we like. Napoleon, our waiter, looked after us extremely well and background music muted enough to have reasonable conversation at the table.

   Lovely setting, friendly staff & great food. Only shame not all the choices were available but what we chose was great! Will definitely be back.

   Four of us ate here on Saturday evening before going on to the Alban Arena. As the restaurant was only partially full we asked for a round table (which we were told had previously been reserved) we were put in a crowded area where there were several other diners. On being presented with menus we were told that 2 of the options were unavailable which was a surprise on a Saturday night. We saw the staff spending quite some time chatting by the bar they did not seem to be focused on customers. The food felt like it had been microwaved and was mediocre. We have eaten here before and really enjoyed the experience however this was not the case this time!

   Booked here for New Year’s Eve as it’s the only place that didn’t do a rip off set menu. Pleasantly surprised. Food was very good in a very authentic French bistro atmosphere. It’s the sort of chain I’d probably normally not bother with but actually the ambiance was lovely, the service fantastic and no pressure to order any more or any less than what you actually want! They laid on Christmas crackers and a sweet buffet for the kids which was a really nice touch. Group of 7 of us with two children, parents and grandparents for dinner, no pressure to leave our table and just generally relaxed and perfect for every age group. Really changed my perceptions of the cafe rouge chain and I’m ashamed at my previous snobbery. Give it a go for any occasion you won’t regret it.

   The service was good and the menu was varied. Whilst the starter was very nice the main course, the tagine, was not good and tasted like it had been sitting in a freezer and then reheated. I have had better meals here.

    Another excellent meal. I had a voucher for a free bottle of Prosecco as it's my birthday in a few weeks. We both had the French Onion Soup which was delicious. My husband had the Lamb casserole and I had the coq au vin. Excellent .
