This was a pre-theatre meal for a family party including two children. The food was good and the menu had something for everyone. The overall service was good, but quite slow - having arrived at 5.15 (pre-booked) it took till 6pm to get starters, and we had insufficient time for deserts! We were able to use a gourmet card so it was very good value, but even without it would have been good value.

Went for a pre theatre meal. Were pleasantly surprised at how tasty and substantial the food was. Even more surprised at the reasonable cost for a central London restaurant.

We met some friends for a pre-theatre bite (though we didn't use that menu). It was bitterly cold and there was no problem getting a table whilst we waited for them to arrive. Good choice of entrees and the wine arrived very quickly. The food is obviously not gastronomy (and not those prices either) but is great for this kind og fairly quick mid-week meal. If you are eating at lunchtime or evening, it is probably a good idea to book , as it was pretty full by the time we left

The food was quite good but the service was slow. We had to cancel the order for our puddings because they took so long and we had theatre tickets.

We went here as a get together. Was a nice eve Staff (managers)struggled to manage the pre theatre rush French woman shouting screaming at staff thinking this would help, it just made her look unprofessional and not very good at her job. She was also rude to them in front of customers which is a pet hate of mine and wrong. Our waitress and waiter however were great! Good for a quick bite, food ok.

We had a lovely meal at cafe rouge. We had a 40per cent off voucher for main dishes. Service was good and we were not rushed between courses. Portions were good for both the coq au vin and beef bourgignon. We will return

This Cafe Rouge is located in the prime area of central london but surprisingly the restaurant was very quiet. Food is just average or below average given the price tags. Fortunately we got 2 special offers, one with Amex and another one from voucher cloud, we actually paid only 40% of the total bill. Not impressed with the escargot starter. The first time it came, there wasnt any escargot under the thick layer of breadcrumbs. Attitute of the waiter was defensive and denied any wrongdoing and left. Not until I tipped over the whole dish and showed it to him, he realised the problem and brought it back to the kitchen. It took me over 10min to get his attention and to come back to my table. The manager offered her sincerely apology and served a new escargot dish to my table. It was disappointing because the escargots were all cooked dry, tasteless and chewy. As for the mains, we ordered steaks and duck leg and they were just OK. Duck leg was cooked too dry again.

Although booking on line and receiving an acknowledgement name was not recorded as booked. Further was not allowed to order a bottle of wine if I proposed to take bottle home if not all drunk at table
