Cafe Monet is the only French Bistro in downtown Millburn. The atmosphere is casual; the food is exquisite. Master Chef, Wes Sawi studied at the New York Restaurant School and trained in top-flight kitchens in Paris and Lyon, France. The results are evident in the menu. Read the reviews, then come in and enjoy. Café Monet, is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner on Tuesdays through Sundays. Please bring your own wine (BYO) or enjoy our free wireless with a cup of freshly brewed coffee. Our specialties include Croissant French Toast accented with Berry Compote, Duck Brandy Sage Pate with Sauternes Spiced Pear Chutney, Seared Ginger Scallops with Morels over Scented Risotto, and Merlot Beef Braised Short Ribs over Mint-Fava Bean Potato Puree.

My wife and I enjoyed a very pleasant dinner at this charming restaurant before attending a performance at the Paper Mill Playhouse. The restaurant is beautifully decorated - looks like a Parisian bistro. The staff is friendly and service is attentive. I ordered the salmon and my wife ordered the duck. Both dishes were delicious. All together, a very nice experience

Great find pre-Papermill Playhouse show. Everything we had was delicious. The price was right, the service was fine. Wonderful meal. Would definitely return!

Although the quality of the food and the ambiance was good, there was too much dysfunction with the wait staff and service. Our server only spoke French and it was awkward and confusing for her as well as us. Last time I checked we were not in France! Although this restaurant is a BYOB, they did not offer us a wine cooler, and our server took our wine to a back area of the restaurant where I guess they keep all the beverages that people bring in. It was a good thing we were paying attention, as we observed the owner of the restaurant at another table preparing to serve them our bottle of wine. Luckily we made him aware that it was our bottle. Later on when we asked another server for something to keep our wine chilled, she proceeded to return with a cork and comment that she wasn't sure if it was for our bottle. Lastly, when our French only speaking server asked for our dessert choice, we selected the one special dessert for that evening. She returned shortly later to inform us they were out of it. This took us by surprise as the restaurant was half full, so how could they have sold out of the one special dessert they were offering that evening?

Had a great time. The dinner exceeded our expectations. Cafe Monet is homey and personalized. Very much a home-made feel, they want you to love it, they want you back.

Great food, and great service. When we booked our NYE reservation we weren't aware it was a tasting menu - but the food was very good! BYOB. :-)
