Brasserie Liberté in Georgetown offers a vibrant dining experience with "delicious food" and "attentive service." Known for its French classics, the restaurant has a "great atmosphere" that many guests enjoy. We had a great experience at Brasserie Liberte. The space is beautiful, the service as top notch, and the food delicious So why the one-star review? The management team. When the bill arrived, there was an automatic 20% service charge added. At first this did not bother me too much because we had a great experience and I would have tipped at least 20% anyway. But then I realized there was no mention of this service fee on the menu or by communication from the hostess or the wait staff. When I inquired after the bill arrived, I was informed that NONE of the 20% service fee goes to the wait staff. Instead, it goes to cover increased operational expenses for the restaurant itself. To me rather than a 20% service fee, it would be more accurate if the management just increased prices on each item by 20% m. So, at the end of the day, the price of your meal at brasserie Liberté will be 44 to 50% higher than you would expect. That’s because you need to add 20% on the price of each individual item on the menu, plus tax, plus an additional 20% tip for the weight staff Again, we had a lovely dinner at brasserie Liberté. However, I think it’s important that each patron understands how this management team/rhe ownership structure of the restaurant, treats its employees and tricks its customers. For these reasons we will never go back.

We were told that the "home fries" were "french fries" but they weren't--they were potato cubes. We asked the server for french fries. She brought them, but they tasted just like the potato cubes. Not good at all. She charged us for the french fries. We reminded her that we had asked for french fries in the first place, so they took it off the bill. The food is not bad and the service is good, but no reason to go back.

Food and service were excellent. Our issue was getting a bill including an extra 20% for "service." The server told me this did not include the server tip but went to other staff. I checked the menu on the website. The practice is stated but I didn't notice it. This practice is simply a disguised price rise and is unacceptable.

The mussels were terrible. They were slimey and had no plumpness to them. Very disappointing because I have had the mussels there before and they were good.

The food was not bad, by any means, but it left a lot to be desired. The bread was underwhelming for a French restaurant, which was a genuine surprise. The mussels had a fair bit of sand still in them, but were overall tasty. The fries felt like they were from Five Guys and an afterthought instead of a main component. Mocktails were incredibly tasty! Service was also very friendly.
