About this restaurant

  • Great for brunch
  • Innovative
  • Neighborhood gem
BLD IS NOW ACCEPTING RESERVATIONS FOR PARTIES OF FIVE OR MORE DURING BRUNCH.

Within its sunny space BLD (breakfast, lunch, dinner) is both a popular neighborhood spot as well as a great destination restaurant. This latest venture of husband and wife team Neal and Amy Knoll Fraser with partner Richard Drapkin, is another successful collaboration of the talented team from Grace Restaurant just down the street. At BLD diners can remain comfortable all day long in a friendly, upscale café atmosphere. The enticing space and the service are approachable from the moment the doors open early in the morning until they finally close late at night. BLD has become the go-to spot for all day gourmet comfort food. House-made pastries, salads, sandwiches, and more feature seasonal ingredients. The all-day charcuterie and artisanal cheese section may just be LA’s answer to the ultimate bar food.

Looking for a great hamburger. Unfortunately did not find one. Beef was salty. Vegan burger replacement was tasty but mushy. We'll really miss the chocolate sorbet from ICDC!

They messed up my order twice and the eggs benedict was not good. They overcooked my poached egg and the english muffin was awful. It took the kitchen awhile to fix my order and everybody at my table already finished eating by the time my correct order came.

I'm crying while I write this. BLD will be closing on Jan. 31st. 2017. You will be missed! The food as usual was a amazing. I had the warm olives and Mac n cheese to start, along with a dirty martinI. I had the pork chop for my main and my friend had the salmon. Both were superbly prepared. For dessert, I "sweet talked" them into making us some 'Adult Milkshakes ' for old times sake, and they were happy to oblige. I don't know why they are closing (the restaurant business is tough), but I wish they weren't. I will be there on the 31st for the 'Brunchathon'...you should too! Thank you BLD for getting it right. THE REAL RAY COMBS...

I adore BLD and I cannot believe that it is closing at the end of this month. This is a huge loss for the west side dining community. Why does this happen so frequently in LA? Please convince the owners to come back!!

Always love the food here but the service is usually a little lackluster. No hustle or quick greeting once seated. It's happened more than once but not bad enough that I'd stop going.

I arranged a brunch to celebrate my birthday here. The food was terrible to mediocre at best. I've never had a hollandaise sauce so bland and watery. Even the biscuits were bland. When we told the server she apologized and said she would let the chef know but did nothing to really make up for it. The other items my friends ordered were edible but by far nothing special. It was a complete let down, especially considering I had heard good things. I would never recommend this place.

The atmosphere was OK. The prices seemed a bit high. We did not like the taste of their $18 hamburgers (of the 3 of us , no one ate more than 2 bites). The fries were good, but extremely salty. Won't be going back.

Unfortunately BLD has lost some of its excellence. On this visit the service was lackadaisical at best. It took quite a while to get service, they didn't bring a wine list, they rarely checked on our table (restaurant was half empty), and the food was a bit cold when it arrived. In addition despite there being plenty of room in the restaurant we were seated next to a huge party that were very loud. Two out of three plates were enjoyable but all lacked the level of flavor we're used to from the "old" BLD.

I had obtained a Gilt City certificate for BLD, and needed to make use of it, so we went there for a late-night dinner. Fantastic food and great service.
