   I had an amazing dining experience at this restaurant! The pasta was absolutely delicious—perfectly cooked and bursting with flavor. The roasted Brussels sprouts were a fantastic side, crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, with just the right amount of seasoning. The Maryland crab soup was the highlight—rich, hearty, and packed with fresh, flavorful crab. The service was exceptional, with friendly and attentive staff who made sure everything was perfect. The combination of great food and excellent service made this meal truly memorable. I can’t wait to come back and try more dishes!

   My family went to Blackwall Barn & Lodge in Columbia for Sunday Brunch. This was our first time there so our server led us to the buffet room, where none of the hot food was out. There were raw oysters which we brought back to the table and when the first one was lifted there were worms underneath of it. We reported the incident to 4 various workers during our time there (busboy, waitress, manager, another busboy) and all seemed unworried. One even replied with, "thats because they are fresh." The oysters stayed out on the buffet and we saw other people return oysters grabbed off the same bar presumably for the same reason. The rest of the food was good: overcooked/fried home fries, pre-packaged/dry deserts, great omelette station, great shrimp & grits, their meat cutting station was questionable with the temperature of the meat. Service was attentive. Gratuity was automatically added to the bill for 4 people and an upcharge to use your credit card. But, the unwillingness to fix the oyster problem is an issue and I do not trust this establishment in Columbia and now question their establishment in Odenton. To the workers there, make an effort to Scrub the outside of the oysters please. Your gonna get someone sick.

   It has been a long time since I have eaten an outstanding meal at a restaurant or write a review for that matter. This was my first time eating here. Everything from the start was perfect. Our server which happens to also be the bartender sat us in the bar section. There was 4 of us and we sat in a very comfortable booth in the bar area. I don't even think I have received service as well as I did today. He knew everything about the menu, gave us very detailed information in a very efficient way. He knew when we needed him even though several people just walked up to the bar requesting service. He was so very attentive. I recommend going there at noon on a Saturday and ask to be seated in the bar area. I can't wait to go back. Everything was delicious from the brussel sprouts appetizer & wing appetizer to our meals. I got the chesapeake pasta dish and it just melted in my mouth. Couldn't even finish half of it. The seafood is plump and juicy, pasta looks and tastes homemade, the shrimp were nice and plump and crab meat delicious and plenty of it. I could go on. My husband got the lamb shank, he couldn't even finish his meal and my husband is a very very good eater. It was huge and meaty (he said it's not a 3 bite type of lamb shank) and the sides that came with are good enough to eat on their own. I didn't pay too much attn. to my brother and sil's dish but they couldn't finish their food either. Last minute I ordered a piece of their smith island cake to go. It's great to share with another person but better to eat it all by yourself! Thank you for giving us a memorable experience Blackwall Barn & Lodge! As Arnold says "I'll be back" lol, just kidding but seriously I will be back!

   Our first time for celebrating a birthday here was very nice with a few hits and whiffs. Staff service was exemplary. The Spiced Apple Butternut squash soup was outstanding, while the French Onion soup, while tasty, had two slices of baguette, not croton as advertised, in place of expected onions. The Chesapeake Pasta was outstanding as was the Barn rubbed sirloin steak cooked perfectly at medium-rare. The wines were pleasant enough, but the amount served barely just made it presentable to look at in the wine glass for the prices charged. The Apple Cinnamon bread pudding again was too much bread, not enough to call it pudding. All things considering our experience, we will be returning at some future time.

    Our server was very rude because we had specific dietary restrictions. As he was entering our order into the system that was located at the bar, I went over to him to ask a question,. He was literally 5 feet away, and even though I called him by name, he refused to acknowledge my presence. Instead of acknowledging me, he turned to his co-worker to ask him to help with another table because he had a very "weird' order. He was no better when he came back to our table to let us know that the restaurant was out of Mahi Mahi. He didn't give us another menu, and instead just asked what we wanted. This could have all been avoided if he started by asking if we had any food allergies. He did not. The manager, Nikki was very nice, and asked if there was anything that she could do AFTER we paid our bill, and I asked to speak to a manager. I told her no. Even with a discount, I refuse to spend my hard-earned dollars and be treated disrespectfully.
