   Really great experience! It had a nice aesthetic and we had such good food. It was our first anniversary and we don’t go out to eat at nice places often but this was a great choice.

   I arrived with a friend on a Monday night (540) in anticipation of a late (8p) KU game. While we had reservations, the restaurant was empty so we moved from our table to the bar to enjoy a few beers and food. In short, our experience was terrible. The bar tender didn’t greet us and was clearly preoccupied with something when we arrived and when finally got his attention to order a beer the 1st and each subsequent time it felt was a inconvenience. We both ordered burgers well in advance of the time we would need to leave for a game. After a lengthy wait time and refill or two, I asked the bartender about status of our food and potentially needing it to-go as we needed to leave. Rather than literally any other response that would’ve been reasonably acceptable, the bartender argued and suggested we everyone in the whole place has a game to go to and everyone got there at the same time and he’s doing everything he can. I was certainly caught off guard as, at no time, was I airing a complaint. The burger and fries was actually pretty good but certainly not worth the hassle of inconsiderate service. Don’t waste your time.

   Great venue! Quiet setting for our dinner. Waiter was exceptionally helpful with recommendations on food and drinks.

   Friendly staff and good size portions. The prime rib was awesome and the Brussel sprouts where the best I’ve ever had!! It’s a great addition to lawrence

   We all agree that the beer here is the best in town, and that the food is very good. We like the space, too. The servers we encountered this particular evening were not very friendly or attentive, and made us feel as though we were inconveniencing them. We were told that they were supposed to be off at 7, and we were just getting started at that time. Parts of our order were missed. We were told that a restaurant week menu item was awful, and then our checks were wrong. We had planned to stay and drink for a while but, after all of that, we went elsewhere to finish our evening. All in all, the service spoiled evening.

   We had reservations for 6. We were seated 25 minutes after our reservation time, at a table that was open for 20 minutes. The hostess made an error and we were not the only patrons impacted by her error. The waiter was slow, waited another 10 minutes to actually order our food after we placed our drink orders. We repeatedly tried to get his attention and when we finally received, he said how’s everyone doing? He completely forgot we had not ordered food. Food was ok, good presentation. A couple of people had shrimp and grits, grits were not cooked enough and the shrimp was overdone. The other folks had a Cubano sandwich and said it was good. In the end, nice theme, good idea, new restaurant and staff that needs some seasoning.

    Chef keeps changing the menu and got rid of several dishes we came back for. Service was slow. Seems like management is having some growing pains. I hope they get their act together because it’s a fun restaurant with great ambiance and could be a great asset for downtown Lawrence.
