Recently refurbished to a very high standard, the Bay Horse is an Independent Pub serving locally sourced and seasonal modern & traditional Gastropub Style Cuisine. We host a well balanced menu plus weekly chef specials for those wanting something a little different!
Our Sunday Roasts have an exceptional reputation with plenty of returning weekly customers from across York and outskirts!

The dining experience is generally separated from the main bar area; which provides an element of casual restaurant style dining. Old Beams, exposed Tudor Bricked fireplaces and traditional fixtures renovated to high standards create a warm yet perfect ambience for any occasion.
We also have a large south facing beer/dining garden with ample seating.

The Bar is stocked with a variety of Draughts, Cask Real Ales, Spirits, Hot & Cold Soft Drinks, Bottled Beers/Ciders and proper wines (from a proper merchants!).
We also create and make up fresh cocktails for those pre-post dinner drinks!

    Had the pleasure of having a meal here. Food was lovely. Staff were really courteous and pleasant to speak to. Next time we are at York will defo be returning

    This was the first time that my wife and I visited the Bay Horse but we did so as a result of the Eat Out To Help Out scheme and to be fair, it was fantastic. The food was great and the service was fantastic. The scheme has achieved it's goal in this instance as we will 100% be back.

    Very friendly staff, very nice meals clean plates by all pleasant quiet pub definitely recommend to anyone, social distancing was easy to follow.

    no social distancing, hand gel ran out at the door. felt very covid aware, not enough space and adults swearing next to children. Very noisy atmosphere

    Sat for one and half hours waiting for dessert. When I enquired I was told that the chef had lost our ticket. We settled the bill and left. Would never return

    Hello, Thank you for leaving an honest review. I'm really sorry that this happened and although it was a genuine mistake, we had never experienced such high volume in trade in this relatively new business adventure. However, on a positive note, we did implement new checking procedures and further expanded upon our staff and front of house numbers. Although you mentioned you would not return, perhaps a visit in the future would be a good way to change a negative into a positive.
