Located next door to Masa, the widely acclaimed, omakase restaurant, Bar Masa offers an à la carte menu, in a casual dining atmosphere.

Savor the unique culinary experience in an environment where the intricate attention to detail has cultivated a sense of shibui. Bar Masa features a bar made from a solid plank of African bubinga wood and walls of Japanese Oya limestone.     A lovely quiet place with great service and fish. Can’t go wrong here. Very expensive but worth it as a splurge.

    Bar Masa delivers consistently. This is my fifth visit and Bar Masa is my favorite spot in NYC for a great evening of amazing food, incredible service, and delicious drinks. Every time I have out-of-town visitors, Bar Masa is a must!

    Excellent Japanese food (all varieties - not just sushi), exquisite service. Also an extensive sake collection. Bar Masa is small and intimate - great for having conversations over dinner! The price is typically midtown Manhattan (so not inexpensive!) but the food and service were well worth it.

    I visited this location many times , service as usual perfect , but food was absolutely not good , we ordered eel with rice , was really just burnt, sushi which by default should have been great didn't seem fresh, I was very surprised and disappointed, I hope it was just my bad luck

    This is our fourth dining experience at Bar Masa, and we continue to be very pleased by the quality, freshness and presentation of the food. The service is very attentive without being obtrusive, and the wait staff is uniformly knowledgeable and helpful. The Peking Duck tacos appetizers were incredibly flavorful and delicate, the tuna sashimi delicious, and my cucumber and avocado salad refreshing and well balanced. The fish in the sushi was excellent. We lingered a bit over our meal without being rushed out. Altogether, a great evening, once again.

    Small intimate dining area. Bit noisy since tables close together. Very good service. Interesting menu with variety. High quality dining.

    The food was exceptional as it should be at Bar Masa. The service however was way below standard. While the primary server, who took our order, was fine and did a good job, the person whop was actually serving the table was a total disaster. He was constantly rushing us, always filled the glasses to the brim - which was totally inappropriate when the carafe should be kept on ice. He was also always rearranging our plates and chop sticks, and touching the shop sticks at the wrong end with his bare hands. When asked to not do that he just brushed us off. A complete disaster and a shame since the food was excellent.
