Our daughter loves sushi and we decided to celebrate her 21st birthday at Azuki Sushi Lounge. I made reservations in February for a Monday night. We arrived promply at 7pm and were seated after less than 5 minutes. Menus and water were brought shortly. Our server was Isabel, who was amazing! She got our orders down in a timely manner and explained everything we ate. We had the chicken karaage with the spicy sauce, the Kakuni (A MUST!) and the calamari for appetizers. We shared the eel and avocado hand roll, On the Border roll, the Classic sashimi platter, the Salmon 4 ways, and the Cavier 3 ways (AMAZING!). For dessert, we had the stuffed banana and the Brown Butter mochi (A MUST!). It was an amazing dinner and we can't wait to return!

We had the best time at Azuki! We sat at their outside dinning area which had several heat lamps. Our server Ross was extremely friendly, lighthearted and provided excellent service, thank you! My BFF who is Japanese and a foodie gave it two thumbs up. We enjoyed the tempura, edamame, karaage, miso soup and several rolls including the chefs selection, and the matcha tea ice cream for dessert. The vibe is chic and modern inside with minimalist design. Highly recommend for a tasty and upscale Japanese dining experience!!

Great meal and excellent service. Understated and simple decor. Very comfortable environment for a family gathering like we had. Food is fantastic and varied. The roll variety is tremendous. Highly recommended.

My favorite dining experience so far in San Diego. I highly recommend the Azuki salad, the miso-glazed eggplant, and - most especially - the r u kidding me sushi roll.

Sushi was subpar (I’m a sushi snob). I generally never write reviews but I was completely underwhelmed with the food. Rice was hard and the sushi and rolls we had had no authenticity or anything that really stood out in terms of flavor and quality. I feel the restaurants appeals to a certain demographics basic pallet.

If you’re lucky enough to make it off the sidewalk and actually speak to a hostess, you might get the privilege of spending more than 12 minutes ordering before last call. We had a reservation for two at 8:45 PM and weren’t seated until 9:25 — nearly 40 minutes of standing outside without so much as a greeting. Let me be clear: the fish quality at Azuki is exceptional — on par with Michelin-level establishments I’ve had the pleasure of dining at. And that’s exactly why this experience was so disappointing. Once we were finally seated, our server rushed us through the entire meal. Every dish arrived almost simultaneously, creating more stress than enjoyment. Even the basics were mishandled — miso soup, traditionally served at the start of the meal, arrived as our third or fourth course. The service felt careless and chaotic, completely undermining the sophistication of the food. We were essentially forced to speed-eat a high-end sushi dinner in under 30 minutes — not exactly the anniversary evening I had in mind. I left with an angry date and a bad taste in my mouth, and it wasn’t from the fish. Azuki, you have the product — now match it with service that respects the food and your guests’ time. Until then, I can’t in good faith recommend this place to anyone.

The raw bar was very good quality and tasty, however the service from our server was absolutely awful. She was very inattentive and said no more than 10 words to us all night. Ruined what was supposed to be a lovely dinner!
