The meal was lovely but just coleslaw for salad was not so inviting. Lot of people don't like creamy coleslaw. Fresh salad with tomatoes, lettuce, red onion etc is always nice. The staff were great and service was good. Very noisy in the dining area.

Lower River is my hometown. Recently I have returned home to live. I was so impressed to see that finally The Argyle has been restored to its originality and charm. Friends from out of the area a quickly jumping on to road trips to the area with the Argyle Hotel and its accommodation as a main priority to visit. Food ✔️ Service ✔️ The list goes on.

We love the Argyle Hotel. As locals we have visited here several times for family dinners and a drink or two and usually choose the indoor dining room seating which is very lovely, clean and aesthetically pleasing. The food is fresh and delicious and has a couple of vegetarian options which is great. The only draw back is that our experience seems to depend on which staff are on duty at the time. At times the service has been wonderful, friendly, professional and warm but on our last occasion it was honestly just a little crap. From the bar lady behind the bar, very unfriendly, we were not greeted in any way or offered a drink with our meals. One of our sides was also forgotten until we were almost finished our meals. It was a quiet Tuesday evening and we could not even put it down to business as there appeared to be enough staff on to manage the few patrons there. We will be back and would love to see the usual friendly staff.

Food and service was very good. We had booked an inside table but decided to dine in the rear courtyard. The lighting was quite dim and the mosquitoes were a problem. We did ask for some repellent but was advised that there was none. We should have stayed at our original table.

We arrived on time, were told what table to go to. It was so drafty we asked to move. We went to the bar and ordered our meals and drinks.. sat down and waited and waited....O er half an hour for fish and chips, calamari and schnitzel. The calamari was very bland, the fish although battered was not crispy. The schnitzel was good. The garlic bread tasted very strange, not sure what was used on it. It tasted like olive oil and very little garlic. It was so hard, it was difficult to eat.none of us will be back.
