   We booked, had confirmation, booked a babysitter! Paid for a taxi... got to the restaurant, in the rain... it’s CLOSED. No one answering the phone either. Terrible.

   Visited the restaurant for the first time as we love Mexican food but struggle to find decent establishments. This one is definitely the exception. Great food, freshly cooked for you by staff that are eager to please. The guacamole to share as a starter is a real delight. Don't be put off by the location, this restaurant is a gem in a tired Holyhead.

   Great to find this surprisingly good authentic Mexican on Anglesey. Although the location could be off-putting, the food and service were very good. Lots of choice, speedy service and a cheerful Mexican who really cares about his food. The Chilli Con Carne with lamb was superb as were the fajitas. Everything was fresh and cooked to order. Drinks were good value and the total bill for four gluttons was under £80. Everything was done to please the customer. There are one or two improvements that could easily be made: the food hygiene rating of 3 was a little off-putting but we had no cause for complaint. Antonio should try to bring this up. The flowers were a great idea but a bit wilted and my friend said the toilets were clean but the carpets had a sticky feeling underfoot. It was quiet on the Friday we went but we could appreciate that it could be a fun place to eat if it were busier. It is a pity that Antonio couldn't relocate to a busier foodie part of Anglesey as he would do a roaring trade in Beaumaris/Menai Bridge. His restaurant is easy to find and if you want a jolly, relaxing night out with food that is unique on the island, The Cheerful Mexican lives up to its name.
