   It was a very mediocre experience. What was good? They had an off menu red which was wonderful and my sea bass (?) was excellent. Not so good? The bread wasn't great, the lasagna had over done, soggy noodles and too much cheese so was a mess on the plate and the cheese sampler arrived with refrigerator cold cheese when cheese almost always should be served at room temperature. Finally, we tried to use an AMEX gift card and were told gift cards don't work at restaurants. Our bill was $90 so we left our $100 gift card plus another $10 cash. When they came back to tell us they couldn't use the gift card, they brought back the card but not the cash. I paid with my usual card and it was awkward to only leave a $10 tip when $20 on a $90 tab is a generous tip when the food wasn't very good. Finally, no one asked us how the meal was at any point or I would have pointed out what was good and not so good as I hate to leave reviews that aren't excellent.

   I’ve written several reviews of Amici Miei in the past 7 years; they have all been great, and this one s no exception. Roberto put together a great specials menu for the weekend and then had to modify it because some of his first list sold out! He served Veal Osso Bucco for the first time in about 2-3 years; I submitted an online request for mine 5-6 hours ahead of time fearing they might run out, and I was right. It was beyond wonderful! And he substituted Beef Carpaccio as a special at the last minute, and of course, it was fantastic. This is a great restaurant with an owner and a chef who really know how to please people. It’s a great place to dine anytime, but if you ever see that the specials include Osso Bucco, get there early and you will be guaranteed a wonderful dinner.
