Ambrosia was founded on the principle that the best food - and the best times of our lives - begin with love. In the Pizzi family kitchen in Liguria, Italy, the dinner table was a treasured space for family and friends. Since 1979, the Pizzi family, which now includes Gino's daughters Manuela, Anna, and Francesca, has been bringing that same love and commitment to the Ambrosia kitchen. Regular patrons and staff are all part of the family, and first-time visitors are welcomed like old friends.

    My daughter and I were visiting Indianapolis from California on a college tour, and Ambrosia turned out to be one of the most memorable parts of our trip. From the moment we stepped in, we were wrapped in the warm, old-school charm of a true Italian trattoria. The ambience was cozy, quiet, and felt like dining in someone’s well-loved family restaurant. We sat indoors and were taken care of by a wonderful waitress who gave us the best recommendations. She was knowledgeable, attentive, and genuinely kind—exactly what you hope for when dining somewhere new. The menu offered a creative mix of classic Italian and local flavors, and everything we tried felt thoughtfully crafted. The highlight of our meal was dessert: the brown butter cake. It was absolutely divine—rich, warm, and perfectly balanced. And to make the night even better, they had Sambuca on the menu, which gave the evening a touch of authentic Italian flair. Ambrosia made our first night in Indy feel special. Great food, heartfelt service, and a setting that makes you want to linger just a little longer. We’ll absolutely be back the next time we’re in town.

    You will never go wrong when eating at Ambrosia. It's just upscale enough but down-home enough to be super enjoyable. Dave, the server, does an outstanding job.

    I have been to Ambrosia many times over the years. I recommend the place to my friends as best Italian in town. We made a reservation at 5 PM before the evening rush, the dining room and the bar were full by the time we left around 6:30 pm. My friends ordered the Lasagna and they both agreed salad and soup were very satisfying and portions were good. I ordered the special, squid ink pasta with calamari and shrimps. We also ordered Chocolate gelato for dessert, it was enough for 3 of us to taste and also excellent. All the food was excellent except my pasta was overcooked but waitress never asked me how the food was. I could have send it back but overall taste of dish was delicious.
