   Best mushroom soup I’ve ever had! Bread was good, salad was small and unappealing, ranch dressing awesome! Stuffed chicken was good, just a bit pricey. Cute place and nice waitress.

   We went for lunch and enjoyed it very much even though we were keeping it light. I went with the soup special due to the weather and it was solid choice and very tasty. My wife had a salad which she enjoyed . Dessert (ice cream wrapped in pecans and chocolate sauce) was 5 stars. The other desserts looked good too. We look forward to going back and trying some other dishes and the cafe.

   In the past we have been very satisfied with our meal at this restaurant. This time, however, our entrees were very flat tasting. We kept adding table salt, but it did not help. Disappointed. We will give it another try in the future as we have always like it before - Easter Dinners and Mother's Day. May have just been an off day with the chef.

   We celebrated our parents' 60th wedding anniversary at Alpenrose. We were treated to a room to ourselves. The food and drink were awesome, as well as the service. We will be back!

    I drove in from Grand Rapids to join a friend for the Oktoberfest dinner. She ordered the Jaeger Schnitzel and I had Bratwurst Dinner. Food was good but server was slow to refill water glasses and didn't ask if we wanted another beer. We enjoyed the large servings of tasty meat portions but the sizes of the kraut/cabbage/potatoes side dishes were small - and that's the cheaper parts of the entrees so why be stingy? Both my friend and I ordered the Apple Strudel desserts. The strudel filling, ice cream, and caramel sauce were fantastic but the strudel crust was gummy - not flaky as it should be. (We've both been to Germany several times so we know what strudel should taste like.) I always enjoy my meals at Alpenrose and this time was no different - just a couple tweaks could have resulted in 5 star ratings from me.
