   20 East was awesome! I was a little nervous about going here just because we had my 2 year old niece with us and she can be a bit rambunctious. But everyone was so kind about her being there. The food was amazing and the staff was friendly and accommodating. I would definitely recommend going here!

   Another perfect dinner at 20 East, this time with out of town visitors who were wowed by the roast salmon and brick chicken.

   This is a great neighborhood spot and food is very delicious. But unfortunately service is inconsistent. I visited restaurant recently and everything was excellent, so I decided to book it again on Valentine's day. Also I understand that it is one of the busiest days of the year, but not seeing the server for over 30 minutes is a bit too much. More than that, server did not even come back to present us with the check, we have received it from someone else. Also restaurant is connected with the Hotel lobby and has no walls. Everytime someone comes in, you get a cold drift from outside. Everyone who was sitting closer to the area had coats on. I understand that this is out of control of the staff, but perhaps having some sort of room separating panels during cold days, might be very helpful. Overall it is a wonderful place and I will definitely will be back and give service another chance to improve.

   We went for lunch during restaurant week as they had originally posted a lunch menu. We arrived to find out no special lunch menu though they offered us the $36 dinner specials. No thank you. We ordered off the regular lunch menu. The turkey was cold cut turkey sliced thick. The prime rib was lean but no flavor. Overall the service was attentive, the staff friendly but the food was disappointing.

    I love Restaurant Week in CHI precisely because it gives me a chance to find spots I wouldn't normally think of when choosing where to dine. 20 East is the Talbott's hotel bar. It has a very chill vibe to it (note: the bartender did say Jan/Feb was the slow time of the year, so mileage may vary). I'm definitely going to return to try the full bar menu... including their unique takes on certain cocktails!
