We had a very pleasant evening meal here. The menu was a bit limited, but we did understand that it was past the regular season. We appreciated having a place to eat on campus that was very good indeed. The beverage selections are inspired and many and we found the service to be attentive and professional. With respect to the limited menu, there was only one meal I could order, the Portabella slider, which was tasty, but not what I had in mind. I would’ve preferred fish, but the glaze contains duck, which I thought was a rather odd, and that is not on my menu. My husband really enjoyed the prime rib, and found the sides to be very good. The house salad dressing is wonderful. It is very light and simple but very flavorful, and the greens were fresh and crispy. I wish we had realized that they were open late on Saturday, as we would’ve come by for post -concert drinks and some food. We will know better next time, and bring some friends with us as well.

Overpriced and in need of a chef who understands quality and proper seasoning. Looks like a great bar for late evening but not a dining experience

Since you are going into the Institute be sure to stop by the ticket window and get a time stamped Purpose Pass. This allows you in for dinner without a gate charge. Dinner was amazing and love all of the eclectic seating. Drinks were amazing and dessert provided by Portage Pies! Altogether amazing! We sat upstairs which was great and there was a jazz group playing. That was a little loud once we got downstairs- but created a great ambience! Great job 2 Ames!

We have been twice in two weeks. The menu is limited to only fresh good food. Everything we have had has been delicious. The wine selection is great and it is an adorable spot. Also great value for you dollar

Just what the Chautauqua Institution needed: a modern American restaurant with a youthful vibe. The entree choices are not numerous, but what they do they do well: a terrific burger, a portabello burger, walleye patties, lamb meatballs, and Moroccan chicken were dishes we enjoyed. There is a lovely bar - a full bar, imagine that at Chautauqua - nice wine selection and interesting beers in rotation. The biggest problem is that because so many of the patrons wish to get out by showtime, the hours from 6-8 are hectic, to say the least. But everyone is civil and does her/his best to stay calm and get through it. Reservations are a must. Or come for lunch, when it's less frantic. The point is the food is very good in a place that can be a restaurant desert.

We sat at a long table with 7 of our buddies and had a great dinner time together. The server was outstanding in her ability to deal with our quirky ways. She was very attentive and responsive to our needs.

Walleye cakes were undercooked and flavorless. Tabouli salad wet and unseasoned. Cheese platter was tasty. A big disappointment since last year, which was excellent.

2 Ames has improved significantly since last year. Much better service and food turn-around greatly improved. Small menu, good wine list.
