It wasn’t open. 6 of us arrived and there was a closed sign and no explanation. Unacceptable

They didn't know that we had a reservation. They said that they didn't accept it reservations by the internet. And we did it. They didn't have food menu for dinner. So, we couldn't have dinner and had to find another place

Very nice wine bar. Nice selection of wines by the glass. Food options limited but very good. Service is friendly and atmosphere is relaxed, ambiance is cozy.

I would like to give a proper revue but upon arriving at the restaurant to find it was closed, there's not a lot I can say. It was a very special occasion and I went through all emotions from anger to very disappointed in about 2 mins. I can't for the life me understand why such a highly rated establishment didn't let people know it was shut is beyond my comprehension. Totally spoiled my weekend in Oxford. Whether it was your companies fault or there's doesn't really alter anything. I received the booking confirmation which was ludicrous!!! I've booked the Savoy in November, which went through you guys again, I trust it will be open upon arrival!!!

Very nice food was good, wine is a bit expensive we had a groupon voucher which was very good and the staff were great.

Do not book this through Open table! The bar (apparently) does not accept bookings through this app so my girlfriend and I turned up to celebrate her birthday having made a booking in plenty of time only to be turned away as the bar was booked for a private function. The bar are aware of this yet do not seem to have made an effort to rectify the situation. Fortunately we were able to get a table at another wine bar in Oxford which was lovely but 1855 very nearly ruined our night.

The 1855 was closed due to a burst pipe and didn’t even let us know, so a wasted journey to Oxford. I have emailed them about a voucher we were using.. but still no response!

Lovely sunny Saturday afternoon sat outside with delicious wine selections and charcuterie board. The upstairs is getting a makeover so will be having a relaunch on 21st July I believe. A great place to meet friends in a chilled atmosphere. Always guaranteed to get a decent glass of wine! My favourite wine bar in Oxford!
