    Have dined here at least 2 times before. Food is always very good. Tonight the service was terrible. Dirty tables in the dining room. We sat with dirty dishes In front of us for way too long. Would have liked to order dessert but waiter missing in action for way too long. It doesn’t seem that there is not enough staff, they just don’t help each other enough to keep things running smoothly.

    The service here is alway top. Kelly is amazing. I got my usual steak tartare and it was as heavenly as usual. The menu changes and this iteration I found less exciting. I wish the pastrami rubbed duck was still on the menu. While the confit de canard was good, it lacked the originality I have grown to expect. The smoked brownie is always a delight as well. I'll keep coming back. I love this place but Savannah needs to know about it. Why not change the name? The 1540 room makes you think you're going to get the same tired southern food. This place is anything but tired.

    We had a fabulous experience dining at the 1540. The chef's wine tasting menu was excellent!~ Service by PJ couldn't have been better, and we enjoying our conversation with the sommelier as well. Highly recommend!

    What a wonderful experience! We are foodies from the Midwest and thought everything about this place was top notch! Our server, Kelly was very knowledgeable and helped us pick the entrees that were unforgettable. We enjoyed the catch of the day which was the grouper and it was delightful. This experience made our trip to Savannah very special!

    I wanted to find a creative menu driven by local & seasonal ingredients. I ordered the Fish of the Day special and I loved it. On my visit, they had Cobia and served it with a delicious succotash that included toasted hazelnuts, corn and beans. I have been trying the many ways chefs prepare baked oysters in the Savannah area and liked the herb-butter crumb with lemon butter they served. Two things stand out, first the flavors just work together well but most important, they weren't over-cooked and dried out. To wrap up my meal, I ordered the Sholeh Zard and Ice Wine. The Sholeh was delicious, with a nice balance of flavors and not too sweet; it paired with the ice wine beautifully. And just for the fun of it, the open kitchen makes you feel like you're right in the middle of it.
