   Well, what a lovely evening. Welcomed at the door, by my first name, having never been there before. Offered a choice of tables, which I think is nice. This was my wife’s special birthday (rude to say which, but ends with a 0), we were treat exceptionally well, the food was amazing, the staff check on what we though on each course (and wine pairing), and we were - at the end - offered an off menu wine that would match others we had tried elsewhere. My wife was full, so was given a take away dessert. Would I go back, definitely.

   Celebrating my birthday in Portland was an experience I’ll cherish forever. The food was incredible, the staff were warm and attentive — they truly made my day unforgettable.

   The moment you step through the door, you sense you’re in capable hands. But it’s when the food begins to arrive that the real magic happens. Chef Angelica is, quite simply, exceptional. Her passion for the craft is evident in every plate — from the precision of flavours to the elegance of presentation. This isn’t cooking by numbers; it’s a deeply personal commitment to excellence. There’s a rare balance here in food that is both thoughtful and joyful, refined yet generous. Each dish shows a clear attention to detail, but never at the expense of warmth. Angelica’s talent lies not just in technical ability but in the instinctive understanding of what makes a meal memorable — the kind of food you think about long after you’ve left the table.    Great as always - one of my favourites and good value for money despite Michelin star quality without the self-important, pompous and pretentious attitude!

   Portland Restaurant has quietly become a favourite — and for good reason. Every visit reminds us why it stands out in London’s vibrant food scene. The front of house team strike that rare balance of warmth, professionalism, and genuine engagement — you feel welcomed, never fussed over, and always in good hands. In the kitchen, the chef and team are consistently outstanding. The food is thoughtful, seasonal, and beautifully executed — not trying to impress for the sake of it, just delivering flavour and craft with real confidence. It’s some of the best cooking in London, without question. There’s a quiet integrity to everything Portland does — understated excellence, delivered with care. A place where you feel well looked after, well fed, and always keen to return. Highly recommended, whether for a special occasion or a spontaneous mid-week treat.

   Really good food and service, buzzy atmosphere and so nice to have all that with no pretentiousness or stuffiness, it’s feels super special but relaxed. It’s not cheap but it’s really good value for money. We went for a birthday and they added in a few special touches which was so nice. Highly recommend!

    Amazing Spring menu. Between the three of us we had the beef, pork and lamb for mains which was all exceptional (the potato rosti side dish didn’t stay in the middle for long). The Clotted Cream Panna Cotta is another level. Looking forward to another visit soon as there are definitely other new dishes I would like to try.
