   We had reservations at 12:30. The host said we would need to wait 10-15 minutes. After waiting 25 minutes, I asked and he said there was still a table of 4 waiting ahead of us unless we wanted to sit outside (which was never offered to us before). The host had the poorest attitude and was not kind. We took an outside table. Our waitress was pleasant, took our order, and then we waited 45 mins for food. She hardly checked in. The food was cold, the Berry bar wasn’t fresh, the whipped cream was curdled, and the food was bland. We are grateful our family got to spend Easter together, but our experience at Portage Bay rained on our day to be honest.

   Wonderful as always! Quick brunch on a Sunday morning. Always go for mimosas. Always forget they don't have waffles, but they make up for it with everything else

   Portage Bay Cafe never disappoints. Tasty, locally sourced food, prepared by the skilled kitchen crew right in front of you, ensures you will always enjoy a lovely top quality breakfast. The overall experience is topped off by the friendly and attentive wait staff. The Portage Bay team understand what it takes to generate repeat business.

   Great food, close to Ballard Locks, great service! Just remember to check closing time before making reservations. We made online reservations for 1:45 PM assuming they would only allow reservations that gave us enough time to eat. Once we were seated, we were told that the kitchen was about to shut down and we needed to get our order in right away which we did. After we had been eating a little while (about 30 minutes), we were politely requested to settle our bill and leave as they were now closed. We were having brunch with a friend and would have liked to spend some more time visiting. If we knew making a reservation that late would only allow us 1/2 hour to enjoy our meal, we would have tried to make an earlier reservation.

   Food was great, server was a little distracted, maybe with end of shift work, and another staff member was getting her job done and very loudly stacking canisters into bins right next to the counter dining, very distracting from conversation. We got there an hour before closing.

   We love Portage Bay! The GF options and berry bar are what bring us back. Consistent food and usually great service. They are high volume but usually get us into s reserved table in a timely manner.

   Maybe Sunday brunch was a bad idea but we had to wait 15 min to be seated yet had a reservation (only 2 people). Then they had run out of cream for coffee just an hour after opening. Service staff seemed quite harried which added to overall discomfort of the meal, and the place was pretty noisy so convo was mostly impossible. Food was only OK. Portions large.

   Make a reservation! Salmon Benedict was outstanding with the best poached egg made to perfection. We ordered a second to try the crab Benedict just to compare. The berry bar was a surprise to add to my pancake. Highly recommend for farm fresh quality brunch.

    It started out great when we arrived at our reservation time and our table was ready by the window. The waitress was very friendly and quick to greet us. The menu looked delicious as always. But when all the dishes arrived, we were disappointed in each one. This is probably our six or seventh time at this chain of restaurants and usually we’re impressed overall, so we were all disappointed in our lackluster flavor foods. One other small point, is we asked for coffee refills and did not receive them until 15 minutes later after asking again. I’m sorry to say after so many great experiences at this chain. I’m not sure we’ll be coming back. There are other breakfast places in Seattle.
