About this restaurant

  • Good for groups
  • Good for special occasions
  • Vegetarian-friendly
Located in the heart of London's bustling Chinatown district, Plum Valley is a sleek Cantonese restaurant that stands out along Gerrard Street for its minimalist style and smart wooden, slate and stone interior. Perfect for business lunches, pre-theatre meals and post-sightseeing snacks, Plum Valley Chinese restaurant is conveniently located near Piccadilly Circus and the West End without being touristy, and the restaurant boasts its own conference facilities well suited for private events and meetings. Dumpling lovers will go gaga for the scallop dumpling, whisker black cod roll, and we also recommend the pillowy cream custard bun, Mongolian fillet steak, and the grilled sea bass with ginger and spring onion. Or just take your waiter's advice and make a survey of the sublime dim sum or the excellent a la carte. Smart enough for dates, yet friendly to groups, Plum Valley is a great must-try restaurant in Chinatown.

We went here for ny youngest daughters birthday. We are all vegetarian and the amount of options were amazing and they were more than happy to replace another non meat option for same with mock chicken. One of the best meals we have had out for a good while. Also very large portions that we were able to bring extras home :)

Very poor Chinese food :- The chill calamari felt undercooked. Soft shelled crab the blandest I have eaten. The pork belly was coated with some gloopy brown sauce - awful. Will not return

Last night I had dinner with my friends visiting from abroad and whom I haven't seen in 10 years. Still, we were pretty chill and didn't expect too much from this restaurant, just needed a place fulfilling multiple dietary requirements. But they failed miserably, and it was difficult to mask my utter disgust and fury when I was served chicken in my soup instead of tofu. They were tiny pieces mostly, we were very much engaged in conversations (after 10 years not seeing each other), so I only realised that I was served meet when I was halfway done. I have never been served meat by accident in London anywhere before! I've been vegan for many years, and I have 10+ years hospitality management experience from all over London - yet, I didn't want to make a scene but I expressed my utter disgust and disappointment to the waiter. We received no compensation whatsoever (that's the least I would have done! ) and I knew they were hoping not to make a big deal out of this. Well, I didn't, but I wouldn't recommend this place for anyone who is vegan, vegetarian or have any allergies as based on this, they would have easily served nuts to someone with nut allergy. The food itself is mediocre at best and my friends were not impressed at all by this place. We will never come back here, and I advise you to look elsewhere too - especially if you are vegetarian or vegan.

A lovely space for business lunch and we like the long bench booths as opposed to chair and table layout.

Overly deep fried chicken, very oily, over battered prawns. Sui mai & prawn spring roll/toast was nice enough. Staff friendly. Price point not overly expensive but overall I wouldn’t run back.

Food is always good. We have massively overordered :-) General advice (for next time/new comers) - stay on dim-sums exclusively.
