About this restaurant

  • Good for special occasions
  • Romantic
  • Innovative
Founded in 1984 and Owned by the PETROSSIANS, it serves a French-influenced contemporary menu that features the caviar, smoked fish, and foie gras delicacies for which Petrossian is known throughout the world. Parisien born, Chef RICHARD FARNABE's celebrated career began with ten years beside Michelin-starred Chef Jacques Maximin in France, before he came to America, where he honed his craft under Daniel Boulud and Jean-Georges Vongerichten. The latter named him Chef de Cuisine at Mercer Kitchen, where New York magazine described the menu as "a lesson in how a few ingredients, perfectly balanced, can create flavors that are lucid and compelling." He was awarded a AAA Five Star Diamond opening of Prime in Huntington and two Michelin stars for his consultation with Picholine. Most recently, he served as a corporate Executive Chef for the Soho/Tribeca Grand Hotel, before arriving at Petrossian, where he hopes to broaden American appreciation for caviar and authentic french seafood.

Highly recommend the Chef's 6 course with wine pairing. Will return soon for the 8 course. Service is outstanding. The perfect rendezvous before Lincoln Center.

A friend recommended us Petrossian restaurant, when he knew that we would travel to NYC. We made the reservation before we leave home. We enjoyed dinner at this beautiful restaurant. The recommendation for caviar, vodka and dinner was excellent.

beautiful plating, complex stunning flavors, attentive yet non intrusive great service - what else can one ask seeking an awesome culinary experience? The foie gras was perfectly seared and the flavor was silky rich. The scallop tartar was vibrant, the duck was at perfectly executed with complementary contrast of flavors against the saucecontrast, the lamb melted in the mouth. The steak tartar that I chose as dessert was the ultimate finale. And then we got a great sweet dessert, complement of the house celebrating our anniversary. A perfect meal.

This place has great service and very attentive staff! The server overheard a toast for my birthday and my dessert was served with a candle. They know how to make one feel special. The food is good value for the price. The ambiance was beautiful and so was the building facade. Front of the house staff were very welcoming. I would definitely recommend this place.

We had the $48 pice fixed dinner for $38. Salmon and Smoked trout appetizer was great. Seared Sturgeon main was really great with a dollop of caviar that I did not expect, will bring me back again, even at $48.

My fiance and I went to Petrossian during Restaurant week. The service was really great. I did not expect our waiter to be attentive while not smothering us with too much attention. The food quality is also amazing, wow. Quality is unmatched.
